DESCRIBING their style as 'trad goth drag queen', 18-year-old Adriana, from Des Moines, Iowa, has curated their unique aesthetics by drawing inspiration from their favourite music artists and drag performers. As a teenager, Adriana's music taste was heavily influenced by her parents who met at a metal concert while Adriana's musician dad was performing. Over the years, Adriana experimented with different alternative styles before creating their own - by combining the aesthetics of goth and drag queen. I went from metal to goth and all the other fun stuff and incorporated them into my style, Adriana said. I was really wanting something different. I wanted to put both things that I love together and form something new. But today, Adriana is going to strip back the dramatic makeup and swap their gothic wardrobe for a 50's pinup look. They will reveal the final result to their best friend, Steilea, who has known Adriana for a decade but has never seen them wearing anything else but all-black clothes. Steilea said: Since I've known Adriana, they've been in straight black all the time. I remember in eighth grade, they dyed their hair black and shaved the side of their hair. Would Steilea recognise her best friend in a classy polka dot dress?

Sorry if I make language mistakes, I live in the northern (Dutch speaking) part of Belgium. The second language we were taught in school (45 years ago ) was French (which is spoken in the south part of this historically very weird country. And the third language we were obliged to learn then was German, because we have a small German part of this crazy country close to Germany. Sometimes i think that many very drunk people divided the gound space and borders after every war that had ended and after a fancy banquet. Hihi. Speaking of a freaky country, In mu humble opinion Belgium ecsells in this mather! :-)
Later in my scolar time (around 1980) English was only a voluntary option, a so called 4th language. Nothing English on the black/white tv stations. So probably I will make many mistakes: -)
Anyhow, I totally accidently arrived on this page. Normally I only follow music and car stuff and untill now I NEVER posted any comments on people; because it is my true opinion that everybody should be able to freely to do or become whatever they want. But in this particular case where I landed looking up airplanes, I really find it worth my effort to take the time to make an small exeption especially dedicated to this special but lovely girl/woman. Believe me, you look 5000% nicer in your 50's version. If you doubt that would recommend as a test to visit some Rockabilly 'car and music' meetings in this very same outfit (we have several of these meetings every year in Belgium and almost all of the girls visiting have a kind of similar look to your 50's pinup version and most importantly everybody is extremely happy to be there ) and you will shine like a star and hopefully never transform again to the strange freak you were before. (Sorry, but that is just my well ment opinion) I have been a DJ and musician for 45 years and the difference between a dark/sinister (always depressing with no reason at all )Goth festival compared to a really completely happy ( with no stress, happy music, nice cars and many many shining happy girls) is really a timetravelling difference. Sincerely I mean no offence or insults from my side but sometimes I totally do not understand why very nice and friendly looking girls or women that have beautiful natural looks completely ruin hemselves with this freaky goth stuff and lose (EVERY DAY) several hours to construct the makeup only to look like a complete freak. My advice (as a 60 year old musician and sound technician) is: embrace your natural looks and beauty, accept nobody is perfect and always remember that hiding yourself behind a thick layer of ink of ugly makeup NEVER will make you more pretty! Please just very simply be yourself as you are, because that is exactly what makes you special and really beautiful and also it would be a delight to this more and more difficult and puritan world!

I honestly enjoy this transformation show because its not about conforming to beauty standards -necessarily-, I think maybe a style is chosen based on the person and their features? It's kinda a -what if you looked different/the opposite to how you normally present-. And then no pressure to love/hate it. Also no pressure on the person being transformed. We have come -a way- since Trinnie & Susana-

This was my favorite transformation so far. The dress was even cute. I don't like polk a dots normally but I do have one black and white polka dot dress. She should dress like a pin up girl just for fun once on a while. She has the perfect figure, bone structure and skin to pull this look off. I normally don't like the transformations but this was a good one.

This look came out so great compared to the other ones. I'm just happy that she feels influenced to incorporate it in future style. Some just truly hate it but she's actually inspired which is a huge plus ---

They look beautiful in the pinup style! Their before style is cool and really artistic. I think they'd look absolutely amazing in the 'rockabilly' style that combines the edginess of punk with 50's glam!

I respect her so much for expressing herself through her style and make up but you gotta admit she is way prettier without all the goth make up. she looks like a young Kirsten Dunts.

Finally a transformation that works.
She doesn't look frumpy or out of her comfort zone.
She's also very pretty.
Could definitely do the rockabilly look justice.

Ok, wow, some of the transformations i-m not a fan of but this turned out so good! I absolutely LOVE this makeover on them, their style is cool before as well though
reply

I think her goth drag queen is way more sophisticated than the 50's Pinup look. Adriana rocks! The way they styled that blonde wig is a bit all over the place.
reply

Oh my god this is the most on point transformation I-ve watched! Amazing! It looks really good on her, but I still love the pre-transformated look
reply

You have a gorgeous face and you are absolutely stunning in this new look. however you are also truly beautiful in your original look too!
reply

wow makeup is just a mask
underneath lies real beauty
its ok
keep the goth look for profession
but turn cute for personal

reply

Rockabilly Goth is a look. If you like the one extreme and like the other, try sitting DEAD in the middle. Love those shoes.
reply

I hope this at least gave her the ability to have more confidence in herself when she's -not- dressed up in her usual self.
reply

Noticed a Ghost T-shirt tucked in there --- That makeup is an art form! How cool that their dad is a metal musician!
reply

I love that they enjoyed wearing the pinup look! Usually the subjects of these videos are so distressed lol
reply

Despite the abnormal, unattractive style. They-re make up art is really talented. They deserve credit.
reply

Amazing how pretty and cute she is under all the goth art. Nice she was able to appreciate a new moment
reply

Really love this series, she's really good and beautiful with new look! Happy Eid Mubarak everyone.
