My country, Japan has same meaning expression, which is Kidoku-Through.
Kidoku means read already. It sometimes causes troubles among people,
especially young generation. Some people quite suffer or angry, not getting replies.

I have many experiences of left on read . In case I'm in hurry, I email with some attachment and I make a phone call in several minutes.
