At school in Rhodesia, we used to have bee alerts during sport - lie down and don't move if a swarm flew by; a humming black cloud. One boy was stung to death in the late 60s or early 70s.

I own an African killer bee hive and I must say that when I get stung they most definitely do not chase after you and it's absurd to say they would even follow you for more than 20m.
