Geez. Old conservative America sure as hell was fun! If d&d was too satanic for them, I really wonder what they think of my favorite RPG - the world of darkness - in which you can roleplay as almost any -creature of the night-, (vampires, werewolves, wraiths, ancient chinese demons similar to western vampires, you name it) as well as mages, and everything happens in a supernatural version of our own world. My money's on heart attack or incoherent butthurt rant about satanism and liberals -indoctrinating our children-, but feel free to contribute!

This is incredibly nerdy, but a demilich is weaker than a lich.
A lich is undead. It obtains undeath via a series of rituals that build a phylactery. To keep their powers, they must feed mortal souls to their phylactery.
A demilich is what happens when a lich fails to continuously feed souls to it's phylactery.
Even demiliches like Acererak the Eternal are less powerful than standard lichs.

One of the biggest elephants in the room where RPGs were concerned in the 80s was LARPs (Live Action RPGs) where players would go into forests and whatnot and act out these games personally rather than around a table. This resulted in injuries and a few deaths because of simulated combat between players getting out of hand. This hurt D&Ds reputation at least as much as the religious controversy.

Cool video; but there is som much more history with RPG's. I hope you dive into that soon. Especially with all the changes to systems in the 90's and some amazing companies forming and creating great worlds. (Vampire, Rifts [though I think that was the 80's when Rifts came out], ect)

You imply here that D&D has vaguely realistic combat. It's just a person walking up to another and just hitting them, then the other walking up and hitting the first. No parrying, and a guy with a dagger can slash through plate armour. Runequest is a superior system.

As devout Christian and possible future minister, you'd think I'd agree with the remarks about the demonic themes of D&D. You'd probably be surprised to find that I find it Hilarious and Ridiculous!

He didn't talk about -GURPS-.
Ok. It sucks big time!
But it's an important part of RPG history.
First -Generic Universal RolePlaying System-, and last one if I'm correct.

Thank you religious nuts for turning me on to D&D! It was nonsense, but -home study kit for black magic- was a catchphrase 10 year old me simply could not resist. :)
