Revisionism is more than revising 'the neverending story' with slightly better figures or new documents though, which is the basic traditional history approach, give or take changes in focus. It is used as an insult for academics who break too sharply from the established narrative, often by evading chunks of previous research which disagrees with their take on a topic. The analogy is between climate change scientists who disagree over questions of detail and a climate change denying scientist; nowadays they would be considered too unusual to be taken seriously.

I read Howard Zinns book - A people-s history of the United States - It was clear he had an agenda and made sure his book pushed it. Then I discovered zinns book was being used as a US history textbook in our high school. Now I understand the reason for all this rioting in 2020. And the existence of people like AOC.

Thank you for an absolutely awesome series! This is the second history series I watch Crash Course and I'm deeply impressed by how you can shine the right light through history and make it both educative but also incredibly engaging, entertaining & easy to follow. Keep that light shining, John!

I-m still not over the idea that studying your country-s history is part of what makes you identify as American, French, and so on, which ultimately legitimizes the idea of having formal nation states in the first place. It-s no wonder why I was so patriotic in elementary/middle school!

Correction - 14: 35 -Crash Course European History has been filmed here at the Jaden Smith studio, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Except for the episodes that were filmed on location in John Green's basement because, gestures broadly. -: :John gestures broadly: :

revision is a misnomer depending on intention, if it's -this happend over there by the way-, that's more extension then revision, if it's actual changing of documented history, that would be a revision which is ethically grey.

History should be the history of the people. And the majority of all people have been oppressed and exploited by captains, lords, kings, queens, popes, generals etc. By the same people we now glorify as national heroes.

As someone who just finished a master's in history, I think ending with a discussion of how the craft of history has changed is the perfect way to end this series. I always enjoy watching these videos -

History is bunk for it is written by the winners who if they so decide to dignify the losers they do so by referring to them as martyrs. Another great series!
