Watch Barn Owls Swallow Rodents Whole

Barn owls swoop down on rodents and swallow them whole gophers, voles and mice, gone in a few gulps. But how do they keep down all that food? Well, they dont. In a few stomach-turning steps, they transform the varmints into compact balls of fur and bones known as pellets

Im studying land and wildlife management in the uk where barn owls are schedule 6 protected, the most protected a bird can be in the uk, and these guys handling the wild owls is stressing me because were not supposed to even disturb the nests.

Oh no. The rodents are so cute, but so is the owl. Man nature is incredible, I love the way evolution works and stuff. How the owl is designed to squeeze out the juices and all that. And we're just hairless apes lol

Owls are amazing creatures! They do some serious pest control and make the coolest cooing sounds.
My respect for them goes back to dissecting owl pellets as a kid & leaning of what all they will eat.

2: 15 why is she touching those animals remains with no gloves or anything on? Getting those dsgsting liquids and oils and animal remains all over her finger nail and skin opening ontop of it

woag! i remember when i was young i got to dissect an owl pellet in class, we didn't use any gloves and i remember wanting to try and reconstruct the little vermin skeleton
reply

Not wearing proper protective equipment when dissecting the pellets is highly disgusting and reckless. Like come on, this is how diseases happen.

If I found out my girlfriend or wife was doing this and noticed she wasn't using gloves to disect dead rodents. I would be extremely disappointed.

This was amazing, but I straight-up had to look away when they were dissecting the owl pellets. I proudly own my squeamishness. Lol! I just couldn't.

I have a couple owl pellets in my collection of oddities and you can see a mouse skull in one of them. Really cool to see what an animal ate.

A little mouse comes squeaking into my nest. What possesses it to do so? Please, do sate my curiosity.

I used to watch Kratts creatures and learned about owl pellets. I found one in my Grandparents back yard

I never knew owls swallowed rodents whole and the owl flying into the nest at night was kind of scary.
