Top 10 Facts - Space [Part 5] in the pandemic, I was so bored and unsimulated but I also had to do mind numbing work, so I was looking for something short to watch, like a standout sitcom episode. I was browsing randomly through amazon prime video when I came across this documentary called the Overview effect, 20 mins long. So I just clicked on it. This was the witching hour, perhaps 3 in the night, so I had all the lights off, and the documentary kicked off. I had no idea what it was actually, I just clicked. And it began to play. A shot of a beautifully illuminated sky kept rising and rising until we were just at the edge of the atmosphere, where Earth meets space. This went on for 3 mins. Then some ethereal atmospheric music began as we circled the Earth from the perspective of the ISS. A luminous layer of blue-green light blanketed Earth, and entire cities were visible as neurons of yellow light- specked and flecked with yellow. Vast swathes of darkness followed, and then more lights, more auroras, beautiful colourations. It was perhaps the most glorious Ive ever felt. I waited for a voiceover that never came. The entire documentary was just a tour from the space station over the Earth at night. Its what happens in this video at -16: 13. I ask anyone to go watch it. Its real. You dont need to go to space to feel what edgar mitchell felt. It was the most beautiful thing possible. I will never forget that experience.

My god these videos are so good they legitimately make me tear up even though I-m not sad at all! -I don-t get it because I-m normally not one to cry about stuff but they-re just so inspiring and engaging, especially the ones about outer space. I totally see where those astronauts are coming from with their outlook on life changing once they got back to Earth; as humans we are always dealing with or causing all of these petty issues and thinking that what we are doing to improve and adapt as a species is having a huge impact in our universe when in reality if you go out to space you will see that the human race on Earth is such a tiny, insignificant speck in the immeasurable vastness of the universe. It-s truly humbling to come to that realization and it really makes you think about mortality and the meaning of life (more specifically, your purpose of being on this Earth, which I know is more of a religious take on this) in general. wild. If only more people were subbed to this guy.

saying -just so happen to aim the tech in the right direction- assumes they don-t have the technology to cover their planet in omnidirectional telescopes or radio transmitting tech that could catch any floating radio signal. why not? we can-t assume a limit to the amount of tech they could make. not speculating on their ability to make something impossible, but maybe a great quantity of something possible? and maybe they would have the ability to compress the signals into something closer to its original state.

Life absolutely exist in the universe, it's mathematicly realistic. If there's about 100 trillion galaxies and life-capable planets being as common as they are. You should see life at least once, per galaxy and intelligent life once in the timeline of that galaxy. Problem is if they exist right now and are close enough to us to be noticed. But saying we don't know is misleading, probability says absolutely, actual data have no record of it as of yet.

Fun Fact: one time, some university students or something had this weather balloon thing that just goes up into space, and goes back down, for data or something and as a joke, they added some fruit gummies to it, but the thing is that.
When it got back-
_The gummies were gone. _
And when they checked the footage, some of it was _gone_ too, just static for like 3 minutes, so something, or someone, in space stole fruit gummies

Yeah, thats number 10, i just know this is really happen, some how i had imagine from long time ago, while watching night sky and full of stars, i think some astronouts might have some experience that could make their consciousness about life more powerfull cuz they has know what exactly we are.
In some case, while i watching the sky, some random things about life pop up in my mind, i love imagine about universe.

The last quote fade it all.
I mean in this world we live in how can so many act as if they were boss who're untouchable's, why can't everyone be just one to achieve the greatest?
We're like tiny ants fighting about nonsense things, wasting our time on shit things, yet we all still cannot understand that we're just a tiny part of this space and one day we'll all come to an end.

I wonder why the human mind is so inherently greedy. Sure there are good and bad seeds everywhere but if a human has a choice of doing something good that benefits others, vs doing something bad that Benefits themselves. There is always this sneaking suspicion that they will chose to benefit themselves. Imagine a world where we were all looking out for each other no matter what.

Its TERRIFYING, but also so FASCINATING. I mean, any minute we might get wiped out from space, perhaps following a thousand other species to extinotion, or we will become a god like race, that explores the starts. Who knows what the future may hold.
Stay safe people.

Great collection!
But one thing: There are millions of people who don't have to stand on the moon for having that instant of consciousness. But probably not the ones responsible for space debris.
Why not terraform the earth?

reply

can you make a documentary video about the moon landing conspiracy and the facts? people still talk about the possibility that it was faked/recorded in a movie studio - i don-t really believe that but i like conspiracies
reply

Come the heck on y-all-. Do you _genuinely_ believe this? LEMMiNO is probably a cool dude, and I-m not upset with him or with you, but this is all nonsense. Go check out a little known concept called THE GLOBE EARTH LIE

Hopefully in the future every child can go to a moon base and look back at the Earth while someone explains that we are all one people
I wonder what effect that may have as they grow up

For the 3rd fact I think it might be worthwhile to know that since this video's release, another dwarf planet was discovered to have a ring system, along with two known moons, Haumea.
