video description
He was in a bind, so he went to Fries, he was willing to play glockenspiel.
He came across a man bangin on a grand piano and playin- it hot,
So Stiebelt jumped up on the piano bench and said -Beethoven I-ll tell ya what. -
-You may already know it, but I-m a composer just like you,
And I challenge you to an arrangement duel.
I-ll bet my presence in town, because I-m down, to play much better than you. -
Beethoven said -call me Ludwig, - but he said it in German of course,
-And I-ll take your wager, I got a big D major, the girls all like me better than you. -
Steibalt cracked his knuckles and said -I-ll start, you goon-
And he tremoloed and the girls said -ohhh-
And he played a lively tune.
He played fast not mellow, a quintet but solo,
And he tossed the part for the cello.
Well when he was done, Beethoven said -Son, lemme show you what the tenor can do. -
He grabbed the cello part off the ground, turned it upside down,
And improvised a sonata right there and then.
The crowd all clapped, and sat there rapt, til he got all done.
Beethoven bowed, Steibalt was cowed, and he started packing his gear.
Ludwig said -If you ever come back here,
You-ll welsh on your bet, so Stiebelt left,
To Wales where he lives yet.

The out of tune thing with the Amazonian tribe is ligit. I live on an island and the singing here would be deemed out of tune and really shit sounding. It's extremely bad by western standards but it just makes sense somehow over here.
It's one of my favourite things to listen to. Had some weird affect on me that makes me fall asleep instantly (out of comfort. It's beautiful. To you it would be worse than the Amazonian one though.
Idk if this is why I associate sad music with happy ones. I know they are sad and some sad ones still make me a bit sad but I feel happy listening to it.

I first heard (or at least first remembered hearing) the amen break in the opening theme of the original powerpuff girls, for some reason I never got it out my head and often played it everywhere. On the dinner table, on the sofa cushions my mother's stomach -. I couldn't have possibly imagined that I heard it almost everywhere

iirc a record collector assembled the ultimate breaks and beats comp, he would go to stores and buy records and sample pieces from tracks
another thing about the drummer of the band is that he most probably died in poverty
i watched a vid on this like 2 years ago so i don't know how accurate i am

I-m writing a musical composition that will take just over 700, 000 years to complete just the first note. And to top off that crazy duration of time, it will take even longer because I-m still struggling to decide what note to begin on! So there-s that, too.

I-m not sure about the stuff at -4: 20. See 3blue1brown-s video about the math in music, which suggests that perfect thirds and fifths might have some innate pleasant-ness to them because the ratios of those frequencies are easier for our brains to pick up on

The sound quality of a modern flute is improved by the use of precious metal. A sterling silver flute will soind better than a run of the mill flute. I dimly recall hearing of a musician with agold flute, which must have been rather heavy.

Why are we good at explaining -how- but bad at explaining -why-
I think I asked a why question, not a how question. So does that mean i won't get answers?

Isn't it public knowledge that Mozart was into scatology? Man would turn around and shit for the audience and let them witness the glory of his ass

Beethoven took the whole -be the reason someone quits- to a whole new level and just basically just locked Steibert out of a whole city.

Every time I hear the Amen Breakbeat I always see visions of a bunch of cockneys from a Guy Ritchie film, loading machine guns.
