Me mum came fae jis ootside Aberdeen wie her kin tae Canada in '69.
I've never been yet, but I feel so drawn to Scotland. Maybe being born in New Scotland (Nova Scotia) and my blood being what it is does it. Been living in Canada far north for almost ten years now, working outdoors. Either foolhardy, or good genes!
I dearly miss seeing my older relatives from Scotland come visit us. And I miss my grandfather. The banter at the table. Crazy tales -fae back hame. -
Was married in a kilt. Planning to graduate college (better late than never) in a kilt. Every vehicle I have owned has St. Andrew's Cross on the front bumper. I learned to make my own haggis, and used to make my own spice mix for oatmeal.
The wife and I are really hoping for a visit and tour once school is done.
Loved this two-part series. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheers!

Born an Aussie of English parents. As boy, I grew up in the company of many Scots who made great impressions upon this wee lad.
Throughout my life, I could often be quoted as saying that if I were not an Aussie, my one desire would be to be a Scot.
The pipes cause my blood to rise and my skin to goosebump. If I thought I had the right to wear a tartan, I'd have a kilt in my wardrobe. Alas, I've looked extensively and cannot find an ancestor (even a distant one) from whom I might inherit that right.
Lang mae ye lum reek.

17: 40 the reason for the coal, steel and shipbuilding was because Thatcher implemented stern measures against the labour movements, such as the National Union of Mineworkers in the 80s. She cracked the whip against striking miners who clashed against the police. To her, the clashes were -an opportunity to crush militant labour unions for good-.

Now I have an urge to move to Scotland, it looks soo calm and full of natural beauty and intersting human activity both ancient and modern. I also like rain and despise the freezing cold winter and hot summer in the continental climate where I have uncomfortably spent life so far. - This really made Scotland seem like a very nice place to be!

I'm in Shetland and descend from a Danish/Scandinavian man in 1472.
The Shetland language is totally different to Scots and any visiting Scots find Shetland very -broad- and difficult to understand.
Our language and words are based on Norn which was a branch of Icelandic and Faroese.

I learned about Scotland through the novel by writer Lynn Kurland. I was fascinated by the majestic and poetic scenery of the steppe through the pages of the book. Now seeing the images in this video, it's even more amazing. Hope to go to Scotland one day not too far away

This was such a pleasant review for me, a longstanding Albaphile. One tiny correction to add: Robert Burns' poem is not called, -Scots Wah Hae, - but -Scots Wha' Hae. -
Lovely program, nevertheless!

My ancestors, well part of them, were the Elliot's, from the Borders, and nothing went across the borders without an Elliot knowing about it. Others have come from northern Irland, and Yorkshire.

Are you a Scot? Or perhaps your ancestors are? Or you were lucky enough to visit this country at some point. Say hi, and tell us your favourite aspects of Scotland, its geography and its culture.

Thoroughly enjoyed this! I-m traveling to tour Scotland in a week. You missed an important Scottish actor who has increased tourism and interest in Scotland and its history: Sam Heughan.

There has never been a more right time for the Scottish people to break away from the UK and go their own way, they don't need the English to hold them back, go Scotland you are brave.

Why isn't Scotland independent but Ireland is? Scotland has fewer natural resources than Ireland? Wouldn't she be able to handle it?
