Turkeys New Constitution explained in 3 Minutes This new constitution is a horrible idea. Since the coup the president and those on his side have been exercising the power to arrest and detain anyone for up to 30 days without a trial who is a -threat- to the Turkish government. What defines a -threat- is very vague so pretty much anyone they dont like can be a target. They have also been freezing bank accounts and seizing property of those arrested. Now the people voted to give him even more power. I dont know if Ive ever seen a country start sliding down the slippery slope towards tyranny faster.

Turks living in foreign countries shouldn't of been allowed to vote. Their votes are what made -yes- win. They shouldn't of been allowed to vote because the outcome wouldn't affect them at all in any way, it only affects people that live in the country. They don't know what Erdogan is like, and what he is doing to his people because they don't live under his government.

Great summary. For some people asking, the controversy isn't much about the government system, which is better between presidential and parliamentary. The thing is, this reform comes after a whole set of authoritarian measures, and that change in the constitution only gives Endogun more power, which is quite preoccupying, given his historic.

I wonder how people can still make the same mistakes that we already did in the past. Turkish people just approved a dictatorship and I wonder if they even know that. And you'll see that in 10-15 years, when this shit will collapse they will all be like -Wow, never that again! - and a few generations after that they will redo it.

Old System was nothing but Delaymocracy. a single Decision took years to be implemented. bur
Now we can make effective STEPS and Decisions. Eu And America is concerned because they cant control our System that way ahahaha.

My one thought was who is going to vote against the president if they are from the same party and that's when I realize if Turkey's government is a dictatorship than so is our two party system.

It's kinda ironic that the western government (mainly the U. S) will always point out elections in eastern bloc as unrightful & unjust, when their own ally is doing the same thing

Almost the same like U. S President, Then why people calling him a dictator. If Erdogan is a dictator. That means U. S President also a dictator.
