The Lost History of the North: Thored, Oslac & Yorvik VIKINGS DANELAW ANGLO-SAXONS DOCUMENTARY
video description
Right up in North Northumbria near Wooler is where the capital of Northumbria was situated from the Bronze age at a hill top capital of Yeavering Bell
Not much stands now, & the hill looks a doddle to climb is ANYTHING but easy, it has a very deceptive almost illusionary climb to the top but its the hardest & most tiring climb ive done
It takes ages to get to the top
& theres a really odd, peculiar feeling as you climb!
Later on, when Newcastle to the south began to expand, the capital was moved to an area called Pandon Gate
Its very badly signposted & it took me ages to locate the exact area of Pandon Gate
Which is around the Shieldfield area ( under the arches of a viaduct railway bridge) but facing south towards the River Tyne.
As a born & bred Northumbrian
& with a life long interest in its history as far back as i can go.
Its worth a hike up to
Yeavering Bell for the view alone
There's just scant stone blocks from the Stronghold left
However there has been quite a few Cup & Ring markings on large tumulus stones uncovered on the cliffs on the Northumbrian coast.
Years ago i remember finding the once tall uprights on the cliffs facing the sea, but now lying flat under bracken & undergrowth
Hidden really, but as a child i explored these cliffs up & down the coast & knew where a few of them were situated.
Both my parents were very keen on Northumbrian History & we spent long hours exploring.
My maternal G Grandparents were Swedish & Danish
Plus my dads people had once lived in Inverness after leaving Norway, eventually coming down to Northumberland.
I absolutely LOVE my county &
Its rich history
Alnwick Castle is another ancient spot & well worth a visit
Also in N Northumberland near Rothbury the ancient
Edlingham Castle, really nice ruins but very creepy & haunted i think, after dark.
Thank you i enjoyed this & learned some new things
The Vikings raided Northumberland in the 790's but prior to that theres a very rich history thereabouts

The history of where the peoples came from Israel and the northern kingdom. The tribe of Dan was the second largest tribe. They traveled from west of the Caspian sea in the Gap between the assyrians and the scythians and moved westward north of the black sea. They battled the Greeks in troy and then after the fall of the Persians and Alexander's empire they developed norse language, mythology, and mixed into the people in that region. At around the time of christ they drove the celts out of eastern Europe and converted or killed anyone who wouldn't convert to kabbalahism and the new regime of Israeli priests who were the forefathers of the norse mythology.
When everything was conquered sons of O-Dan were set on thrones of conquered peoples.
In the Sagas it is said O-Dan settled down in sigtuna Sweden having 17 sons and two daughters. These sons had sons and tried to stay true to their kabbalahism, and their descent from Aaron and the mosaic priesthood.
These sons of sons of sons are all long lost sons of Abraham. Karlsson, Gustafsson, Ericksson, ect are the sons of Abraham long lost but now found.
Blood testing will determine the rabbi from the descent of the y chromosome and the truth contained within my post.

the anglosaxons were using the norse to further their own grip.
the fear was that they saw in vikings a reflection of themselves. they had only taken thecross a hundred years or so before.
its known that the norse sudden aggression was a result of charlemagnes saxon war.
they had long traded with the kingdoms of england as they were a kinfolk and the raids were really pre emptive strikes to try to hold on to a way of life.
english monks were used by charles the butcher before he slaughtered thousands after being converted forceably to the way of the cross.
as a friend of an enemy there is no option other than pre emptive adventure. it is not the way to hold discourse or trade with the friend of a foe. regardless of previous discord.
the kingdoms of england would no doubt use the raids. punitive as they were as an excuse to demionise a people that many welcomed. and would doubtless devastate an area and blame the danes. propaganda is not a new concept. and further impose taxation to rob the people
doing this would in turn put expectations on a local ruler. who made the real problem. do something about problem rather than sitting down and finding the truth

Thoroughly enjoyed the video, however being a man of Ulster I must correct your map. The n/e corner of what you have as Northern UiNeill is known as the Kingdon of the Ulaid. It existed east beyond the bann river (North and south of Lough Neagh) forming todays countys of Antrim and Down, with a little over spill in Louth even into the 8th century. This kingdom from which Ulster takes its name was never subjugaed by the northern Ui Neill Dynasty and only lost its independence when the Anglo Roman, John De Courcey invaded in 1170 under the guidance of a deposed Leinster king. The Ui Neills would not become self styled kings of Ulster until the 14thC.

Outstanding summary. I had no idea! Now I want to delve in and learn more. Its a shame historical records were lost, like the library of Alexandria
The one great sadness is the constant struggle that occurs because of the great selfishness and lust for power that drives wars, rape and destruction. The devil takes care of his own. until they are no longer needed, it insures a long line of those willing to do anything for power and wealth.

The connections between egypt and vikings are crazy. thoths emerald tablet= odins journey for the runes, boat heiroglyphics look identical to Viking boats, and both have important birds who watch and keep knowledge. Horus= odins raven. And I'm sure there are more. Ive only started connecting the dots

It would be great to have another united north sea empire but including all of Scandinavia and britain and ireland and with a native population. Does that make me a bad person? Well i dont give a damn.

Would it ever interest you to give a tour of the Bayeux Tapestry, bit-by-bit? My British Art History covered its existance, but skipped over most of the (rather interesting) details.

I've never understood the term 'Anglo-Dane'. Angles are originally from Denmark. Angln, southern Jutland, to be specific. So Anglo-Dane is kind of like saying Dane-Dane.

And this is why the Middle Ages is my favorite period in all history.
So much history happened, not just in Britain, but all along Europe.
