but, because of the Alexander, we lost the great Achaemenid Empire which was great then Macedonia, Rome and other Greek empires. so, why did led Achaemenid to end. even then they are only few or single digit of Empires like Achaemenid Empire.
did Alexander is Great? I think Kings like Cyrus, Darius, Ashok, Xerxes, khosrou anushirawar and few more when compering to all kings of different empires over the world.
Alexander was Great in t, he got Alexander The Great, but he was poor in ruling the kingdom, he try to ruling the kingdom by wars, think about Cyrus The Great he won the Babylon city without single drop of Blood. and he freed the jews from slaves and built second jew temple this for to unification of different groups, different cultures and different religions.
but Alexander he burn the city named Thebes because when Alexander did eventually attack and capture the city, he had lost all patience. All those not killed in the fighting, he sold into slavery, then burnt the city to the ground as an example to the other Greek states. There were no further rebellions during Alexander's lifetime. is this make Great? i think no.
i think Darius 3 is greater then Alexander(Great in war.

Haha. He conquered the entire world and finally tried to attack india. At the end he died due to explosive diarrhea at the banks of Ganges. Ofcourse the historians tried to hide this fact from the books, because they don't want the entire world to know how an emperor like Alexander encountered a undignified death. But finally the truth came out through other books. He conquered the entire world and the Indians beat the shit out of him and his army using their unique elephant squad. Alexanders soldiers and their horses couldn't move faster in the muddy ground, but elephants can. Also Alexander and his army built their tents on the other side of the Ganges and because of this they had to swim and row their mini boats across the giant river every day. Finally his own soldiers and generals conspired to kill him so that run away to home leaving this battle with Indians which they know they are not going to win. But Alexander got Sick from malaria and diarrhea and died Historians twisted this fact and cooked up an other story to keep his dignity. But there were always other historians who wrote the truth. Sorry Alex but you were at the end

If the Persians would have listened to Memnon, they probably would have won easily. Alexander had abolished taxation in Greece, and his army was funded by loans from wealthy Greeks. He was in a race against time before he ran out of money and would be unable to keep his army together.
He was relying on plunder to keep his army afloat. Had the Persians pulled back, Alexander would have been bankrupt and his army would have disintegrated.
The Persians were wary of a Greek general telling them not to resist the Greeks, and so it fell on deaf ears.

Interesting tidbit about the Battle of Granicus was the fact that Alexander's army suffered more casualties in its punitive assault against the Greek mercenary contingent force hired by the Persians who were left behind after their retreat into the Anatolian hinterland at the conclusion of the battle.
