8 Ancient Empires You've Never Heard Of - History Countdown MaryAnne: People haven-t heard of Teotihuacan! I didn-t know that! It is right outside Mexico City-super, super easy to get to. Every hotel in Mexico City can arrange a tour for you-that is what I did.
So Mexico City altitude is already 7300 feet above sea level. Then when you go to Teotihuacan you can climb the pyramids. Let me tell you, I was already not used to the altitude, and then climbing those very narrow, steep steps up the huge pyramids! Literally, there were Mexican school children running like Olympic sprinters up those steps past me while I huffed and puffed and hung on! And I was only 27 years old!
But it was really an amazing day. The place is huge, and so incredibly memorable. I highly recommend going there.

Some of the empires are well known outside of USA. For example, the Persian empires, the Arabic Caliphates are well known in China. The weirdest thing is Calling Khitan Liao dynasty unknown. It is like calling Macedonian empire not a Greek empire.

Abbasid caliphate is an middle age empire. How could this be considered ancient empire? It is one of the largest land based empire. You should learn about history more.
reply

Well that depends if your looking for the mind of god look to the top of the cross but if your looking for the footstep's of god it the bottom of the cross.

History should correct itself. It's AD and BC not BCE and CE. CE and BCE are only for scientific contexts. Historical contexts SHOULD BE AD and BC,

Now THIS is the type of stuff History SHOULD be giving us! Not -Lost Dutchman Mine FOUND- when it clearly hasn't been -found-. That's not how words work.

The empires in the middle eastern countries mastered metals & coins thousands of years before the European did. 1: 11 know your history fool.
