I love how the buildings look a bit more used and dirty now. I think way too many reconstructions make ancient cities look way too clean and pristine, almost like plastic models, but this I think gets it right. The Romans were very serious about public maintenance of important buildings, but some of these buildings would have been hundreds of year old by 320 AD, so they can't have been in pristine condition either.
The only thing I think could still use some slight work in this regard is the statues. I think the paint should probably be a bit more faded, we don't really know much about how often (or if at all) the Romans repainted their statues. Having the paint more faded would probably be a bit more consistent and function as a decent compromise.

The late empire seems to have been a Gilded Age of truly epic proportions.

Extraordinary! It would make the modelling more understandable if some of the larger, more significant structures were labelled. But this video brings home the idea of Roman grandeur and the beauty of its civic architecture. Wonderful!

At that time ancient Rome had passed most of its glorious time. Only few years later Constantine took a new capital in the East. What did the Rome of Sulla, Pompey, Caesar and Augustus look like 300-400 years earlier

I'm wondering about all the golden statues. Gilded Gold paint Polished bronze I realize that in Rome and Greece, statues were commonly painted, which is not to the modern taste. But shiny gold Is this correct

I like it but there's something historically incorrect about it. Nero's collosus was destroyed before the building of the colloseum. That's where the Colloseum got it's name from.
