John 3: 16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

it's good that Singapore is on its own and developed into a very successful country. Unlike Malaysia is full of problems, development progress is getting slow, ruled by incompetent government, cronies, and corrupted government. Some of the people will never wake up as they keep feeding by the cronies, living under imagination and continue to vote to those who feed them well. Political parties fighting each other everyday, waste time on arguing over the media instead of solving the people's problems. country is moving backwards, ultra conservative day by day.

Of course very easy to manage a city state. No rural areas to develop. So just be Pandora island. With corrupt Pm who use draconian ISA to rule a tiny city state, the island attracts all the dirty money and those who want to evade taxes from likewise corrupt citizens/ leaders from all over the world to park their ill gotten wealth thus making Spore very rich. Not a secret anymore

Some immigrants are refugees escaping war-torn countries and that is fine. But some are tools of occupiers and they repeat what the occupiers said about the Malays whether they realize it or not. You can't help what you are born as but you can choose to not be a mouthpiece of indigenous-hating Stamford Raffles and his ilks.

1: 45 - malaysia operated on Malay Malaysia as in Malaysia belonged to the malay ethnicity. Hence malays got priority over other races
Singapore wanted a Malaysian Malaysia as in Malaysia belonged to every malaysian regardless of race, since well, singapore was and still is a chinese majority. so that's the issue

Listen. PAP won the independent. There happened a fight between enthnic between Malay and Chinese. Tunku Abdul Rahman had to remove Singapore to end it. Now, most Singapore leaders are Chinese. Low rank people are Malay. It seems like Singapore not a malay country anymore. It is like a taken country

Many people in the comments just love to make comparison based on development of the countries today without looking on history of the people there. Malaysia kicked Singapore because too many Chinese Communists there. people should know long ago many Chinese immigrated to Southeast Asia.

To me it was good thing that Singapore was kicked out of the federation at the time. The reason because there was a riot before aiming towards the Chinese in Malaya. So the best thing to avoid more bloodshed, Tunku Abdul Rahman kicked Singapore out the federation

My dad is from Malaysia and i have always been confused why Singapore even though its exactly the same as Malaysia wasnt apart of it and i just assumed it was a hong kong situation and Britain had something to do with it but i was very wrong.

aiya. SG or MY or ID all same lah. Asean. formerly conquered and now divided. becoming smaller and smaller country. so we possess no threat to major foreign powers. dont know when Asean will have one currency like EU. keep fighting some more la.

It seems there is a factual error (1: 28): the party that Tunku Abdul Rahman led was the Alliance Party not the Malaysian Solidarity Convention. The People's Action Party was actually part of the Malaysian Solidarity Convention.

>has a race based political system
>kick out a tiny chunk of the country rallying for racial equality
>that tiny chunk develops an economy dwarfing the original nation
Has there ever been a more clear A B test?

reply

I am a singapore myself but the true fact why malaysia kicked singapore our is because there's too many Chinese people this made malaysia frustrated with many Chinese poupulation so they kicked singapore out of malaysia

Japan in WWII: okay you know how Europe has a bunch of colonies? What if we took them but put the natives in charge so they can have some sense of power in their own nation?
Europe: hey umm you guys are the bad guys.

reply

The main reason why LKY Singapore was unpopular with the malays was he wanted equality amongst all races. But the malays saw themselves to be prince of the land as in Bumiputera, to have privilages over others.
reply

It's actually wrong Malaysia is one of the most diverse country in South East Asia. Most of the Malaysian we see are Chinese and Indians yes. so the word you use that because of Malaysian is Malaysian is wrong.
reply

In Asia a country declares independent becomes successful and rich
In Africa a country declares independent then becomes the poorest country in the world with unstoppable civil war.

reply

The West Coast of the Malayan Peninsula is Chinese or Chinese/Indian, including Kuala Lumpur. What would have made more sense was a split between the West Malayan Peninsula and the East.
reply

Ironically, now Singapore is a better country than Malaysia overall despite the fact that their population are only 1/6 of Malaysia's and their land area is not even 10% of Malaysia.
