How does the U. S Presidential Election work? - Explained in 10 Minutes
video description
The electoral process for choosing the President and Vice President is consensus choice, where those making the choice, the States, must also identify and rank the candidates, and that-s the job of the electors, the electors make a list of qualified candidates that they identified and vetted themselves, then the States lists are compiled in congress to form a aggregate ranked list of candidates and the top candidates on that aggregate ranked list, top 3 on the aggregate list for President and top 2 on the aggregate list for vice president, form the ballots of candidates that the States in congress consider and make a choice by vote, 1 vote per State, and a majority of all the States is necessary to the choice.
How we got to the totally bastardized system where the electors are superfluous to the process is beyond my ability to comprehend, but it mainly transitioned in to a way for the parties to guarantee that they would raise one of their own to the presidency by controlling the ballot, which is in direct opposition to the constitutionally established process for that purpose!\r\n

the electoral college makes more sense when you realize the US shouldn't be seen as a single country but a union of territory's with their own beliefs, laws, constitutions, flags, etc that are independent from each other, working together because of one document. Presidents are literally trying to get states that would be their own country's to vote for them so unless you abolish state lines and make all states follow the same subset of laws and restrictions a popular vote only, wont work.
although Nebraska and Maines system ive seen has been gaining steam all over for all party's so that may be a solution that will break up stronghold states for either side

There is no -the popular vote- in the United States. The States select the President through the Electoral College. The States and DC each hold their own unique and separate elections, although not required under the Constitution, for their state electors. Those are 51 separate and unique votes. To tally them up and then declare that the same outcome had their indeed been a national vote. one single election in which all citizens voted, while interesting trivia is statistical and political folly. A candidate wins the Presidency by winning States.

Seeing some folks screaming -FRAUD- here in the comments. The fraud is when the side that got the most votes in EVERY presidential election except 1 since 1988 (the one exception was George W. Bush in 2004) and yet didn't win the presidency not once but TWICE! And heck, if we went by popular vote, as it SHOULD be, that 2004 exception likely doesn't happen since Bush -won- one of those 2 times he got fewer votes than the opponent. I say that as a 2x Bush voter too, fyi.

Brown v. School Board. The principle finding that it is unacceptable for a US Citizen to feel disenfranchised would/could/should be applied to US Nationals standing for high office of President. Good enough to locate bin laden and plan the raid but not to stand. What did Trump do for his country? BLM matters if course but its not our only inequality - born in UK USA national - allegiance to the USA only. By sworn. oath

I mean assuming there's even democracy here for 2024 this video may be outdated by then if we see the rise of the USSRA as I like to call it, people will call me crazy but when one party has a majority in both chambers? C'mon it will be abused it's just logical that the Dems having a majority in both chambers won't give up power that easily, heck for all we know this is the last time a Republican will hold power

The phenomenon of winning the popular vote but losing the election is due to another phenomenon called faithless electors where an elector promise to give their votes to the candidate that wins the popular vote but switches at the last second to the opposition candidate, if there-s enough faithless electors, than one candidate can have the popular vote but lose to the opposition candidate

In short: US is not a democracy, it is a white supremacist hypocrisy run by corporations' lobbies.
No universal suffrage, voter suppression, not totally anonymous voting system, hours long lines to vote, gerrymandering.
Bullies the rest of the Free World with it's Military. CIA interferes with any foreign country it can.

The electorate process is actually very unique. The number of electors based on the number of members in Congress is based on the Governor plus the number of senators. For example, California-s 54 members + the Governor = 55 electoral votes and South Carolina-s 8 senators + the Governor = 9 electoral votes

America really needs a democracy. I hear trump was outvoted by to hillary by over 2 million votes, that's not a democracy and it does not matter who becomes president because the oil tycoons in texas pull the strings anyway, thats not a democracy. And just 2 partys, give me a break.

How does the US presidential election work? Well both candidates yell to one another, people vote but their vote don't really matter, the states tell who won and then the ones who lost continue yelling and the ones who won yell at the one yelling. I think it's accurate.

This is reminding me of -that kid-. You know the one. The kid who kept making up weird and convoluted rules during a game. Like, you get an extra roll if you're wearing green on a Tuesday or the 2 of spades is now a draw 3 because reasons.

The US allow freedom for their citizen in many aspects of life, but not when it comes to voting. Out of a dozen potential candidates you end up with 2 choices. And your vote doesnt really matter if you are against the majority of your state.

-Answer- and -questions- when referencing politicians should not be used together in a sentence unless it is augmented to be in the negative.
Politicians never actually answer questions it-s anathema to their natures.

Primaries suck, democracies that don't have primaries have less crazy people. I wish we just had a simple closed party and proportional representation. The EC sucks as well, without it we would never have Trump -_-

I think all states should distribute their electors like Nebraska and Maine. That would make the system more fair, as republicans in California or democrats in Texas wouldnt feel like their vote doesnt count.

Can you make a video about How Indonesia won against the Dutch, British, Australian and Japanese in 1945-1949?
And why did the USSR help Indonesia against the Dutch during the Trikora operation?

In summary, the popular vote is just to give the people a sense of belonging; the real election is carried out by the electoral college, it's really as simple as that, hate it or love it.

Wow! There was only a 3 million vote difference between Clinton and Trump. That means 77 million people became voter eligible just four years later-. Where did they come from?

It's funny how many countries who got rid of the monarchy then treat their president like a monarch.
They really look up to him in awe. He's just a dude though.

You use mail ballots to get as many votes as you want and sue the other side if he doesn't agree. And you don't need check the ID of the voters. And there are many more.

Yes, popular vote should be used because that way, California republicans won't feel like they have no say. Also it allows creation of more parties

I will explain it in a sentence. The President is selected by the banking cartels and friends.
If your vote counted they wouldn't let you do it
