Why did Rome attack Greece? -- Battle of Cynoscephalae, 197 BC (Part 1/2)
video description
and apparently they were in china thousands and thousands of years ago or at least their craftsman were to help the first emperor build the terracotta army.
and maybe they could have stabilized afghanistan/pakistan too without the constant threats of invasion from the steppes and the chinese and indians and persians.
its sucks hearing from this video that the greeks basically conquerred the known world or had colonies/traderoutes everyplace, but then fractured into rival nations instead of just having administrative regions/states, and that they basically fractured their homeland all the way back down into villages/city states/tribalism and then effectively invited the romans in. if not for the romans having no culture of their own and absorbing other cultures like greece and germania and celtic/gaelic etc and preserving them then we probably wouldnt even know anything about greece or its culture today even though its so important it created most of todays known world.\r\n

But with this title you contradicts you. Rome was an ally with Greece not in war with Greece, in contrary Rone was in war agains Macedonia who was not Greek but subduing Greeks. Why would Greek citystates ally with Rome ofcourse to be freed from the Macedonian surpression. It is bizare to call Macedonian Greeks while Macedonians are in war with Rome and Greek city states. It does not matter if the Macedonians and especially the Macedonian elite were impressed of that time Greek cultural acheavments and they were accepting many of them it is like many people in the world like the present day western way of life but that is not making them ethnically western. The same way Macedonians were by no way ethnically Greek and you should give a title a very correct title Romans and Greeks in war against Macedonia. Otherwise you are giving a very unserios impression.

Of course conquer territory for Rome and to expand Rome's reach but I believe the Romans had a deep grudge against the Greeks and Retaliated with a vengeance for what the Greeks did to Troy centuries before Rome came into existence myth and legend says the Romans we're descendants of the Trojans that escaped the fall of Troy

Just a quick fix!
He was not a nationalist, Alexander always adopted to good new cultures.
Macedonians had own rulles, own culture, own morale values rather different than the Greek.
But Alexander was educated by Aristotle a Greek phylosopher and a teacher so he learned to adopt to this new and alien culture!

The Greek Empire did not Collapse, it was just divided and administered by the DIADOCHI of Alexander the Great into separate GREEK KINGDOMS and DYNASTIES. The East Roman Empire aka BYZANTINE EMPIRE that out lived the destruction of Rome and the West by 1000 years is a Continuation of Alexander the Greats Hellenic Empire.

Either these videos are meant for middle schoolers who never pay attention or you thought that pausing after every single over-emphasized word somehow made what you said more profound. One has to listen to this at 1. 75x speed to make it even remotely listenable. I'll pass.

The Greeks had sent an envoy to Hannibal during his siege of Rome offering an alliance and troops. Hannibal gratefully, accepted, but the Greek envoy was captured before he could escape Italy. Here is how a single man's fate could of changed the entire course of history.

If Alexander didn't die or if he had more capable successors, the Roman empire would never happen and maybe the Greeks would rule the west too as Rome did. But either way the outcome and legacy would be the same as it is today.

Good information! You guys need an editor though. Your prose is pretty clunky.
Wait. So you say Phillip turned away from Galba and toward the Peloponnese, but then you show Phillip in. Athens?

Imagine if the Greeks unified like with the Persian wars. The Romans would stand no chance. Instead they preferred fighting each other and let a complete stranger take their motherland.

Its very weird that the Greeks let a foreign power, Rome, to interfere in their internal politics. Maybe Rome wasn't that foreign to them after all, at least culturally which is a fact.

Such a pitty that Ancient Greeks never did they establish a centralized power that could unify all of them into a primitive form of a nation state.

Thought for sure he would win
They didn-t understand Roman resilience
Rome made sure the Greeks got payback

Because Italians love Greece and would like it to be united to the Peninsula. Jokes aside, we truly like our Greek neighbours, No humor about that one.
