Because the Conservatives and Austronazis wanted the -Anschluss-, it was the time of a technical, medical and enomical revolution, but without most of Austria.

It was no real invasion, and no real wellcome and it was inpossible without the austrians, (the people of the -other- Germany) because 1938 the -Reichswehr- was not ready for war, and was not ready for war 1939/40 when the war startet. Just think of a early panzer with only a 2cm main cannon 1 Inch armor and 4cm light towed cannons, no match for the t34. Untill the 3Reich/UDSSR conflict it was just a -eating away from the weak- after several incidents in german speaking areas of poland and czechoslovakia, and the Corridor-Conflikt with Poland.\r\n

long story short- because they ARE german and before the postwar era in which they came up with a seperate national identity due to the (not completely unjustified) anti german sentiments most europeans and americans had then. You have to see it a strong bit like the german reunification in 1990- in both events there were two different german states just because someone drew a line between two areas of land that were a cultural, linguistical and ethnical unity and therefor ofc people were happy when these areas were reunited politically. I think it is a bit sad that austrians nowadays would never ever even acknowledge that we are the basically same people.

The clerico-fascists fought off a nazi coup that claimed the life of the leader, Engelbert Dollfuss. Despite insistency that Austria wouldn't joined, it faced military pressure that wouldn't be able to combat, thus caved. Further into the video. Austria was already Fascist government. After the Austrian civil war of 1934 the Austro-Fascists (specifically clerico-fascists) took power under the Fatherland Front party. This video is incredibly misleading.

The most of them was blazing nationalist and antisemites like the Germans. Most of the population liked this ideology and if you go to the country side in Austria, they like it still in these days. A big difference between German and Austrian about this time is the sense of guilt. They talking like they got invaded. In Salzburg they opened the turnpikes and they cheered to the soldiers when they crossed the borders and gave them flowers.

It should be mentioned, that the Austrian fashist government from 1938 (which favored a Mussolini type of Fashism) was very unpopular in Austria due to the convinced catholicism of its leadership. Austria is seen as a catholic country, but its catholicism is superficial. (except maybe some rural regions) In fact, a lot of Social Democrats and secular liberals of the country saw the Nazis as the lesser evil. 1938 Mussolini withdrew his protection of the Austrian Fashists and there was no other option for the old government than to resign.

And according to wiki, Austria is different from switzerland and brussels in that german IS it's official language. vs brussels you either get shuned, or welcome warmly depending on what language your using in either the north, south, or east. OR switzerland where they embrace, not just french and german, but also italian, no mater where you are. again this is all according to wiki.

Short answer: Cause they liked it.
And why wouldn't they. Finally the german peoples would be unites almost entirely, save for German Switzerland. Austria beings cut off from Bavaria didn't seem nice either. If I was Austrian at the time I'd support it too, at least the Anschluss itself, leaving the rest of the atrocities aside

Personally I consider the is worst Smash game due to the tripping mechanic, but at least it had a fun single player & started my playing with the current group of friends that I played Smash with regularly since then. I just wish the tripping didn't exist.
During this era didn't have a main yet as I was finding my footing, but I settled on Diddy Kong for a long time.

Today honestly if EU wouldn't exist Austria would probably not exist aswell
I'm glad my country still exists
I just hope that my countries culture won't die since maybe its just me but there's just so few fully ethnic Austrians

Austrian Germans missed the unification and i is not surprising that many would welcome it. Unfortunately, it happened under the Nazi regime.
This article suffers from typical confusion between nation and state. Austria was not a nation, it was a state. The nationality of its citizens was predominantly German.
