These Europeans were monsters. They technically colonised the whole world. They looted the local people, made them slave. Imposed their language on the local. It breaks my heart when people of Brazil speak Portuguese (language of Portugal, which is a different country across the ocean) instead of their native language. Same with other South American countries where Spanish ruled. The Dutch, the French, the English also did the same. These bloody English did same to us Indians. --

Brazil is not a country. It's a COLONY! If you can't see that your perception os things is being manipulated. Pathetic place. A nobody's land and everybody's land at the same time. A riot of corruption, deception and foreign exploration and manipulation. Big, rich and dumb. A giant Puerto Rico. I'm ashamed to be brazilian and even more ashamed of descending from europeans. Brazil is the greatest crime ever committed.

great video! but i wouldnt say -thanks to the portuguese- - as you showed in the video they explored and slaved us and left us with nothing, all brazil gained was because of the strenght of this people. Portugal did nothing other than abuse of us and our natural resources. That is the root of all our poverty, inequality, corruption, inflation, and structural racism culture

If someone watch this video again after sometime, keep in mind Brazil speaks Portuguese. It's different from Spanish mainly in phonology, but also in other ways. So if you come to Brazil and speaks Spanish, keep in mind you'll need to learn some differences because you can be in trouble or misunderstood.

If the Portuguese had diseases, why didn't they die from the same disease they passed on to the indigenous? Why did these so-called Africas not die of the diseases the Portuguese brought? The Portuguese brought diseases, but the Portuguese did not die that makes no sense.

The transatlantic slavery -would go on to have its own dark history, but in the meantime, was the solution to the Portuguese labor shortage- is a pretty. um. atrocious way of putting it.

Are you wondering why a Portuguese prince declared the independence of a colony of Portugal?
Simple, he realized it was better independence WITH him than AGAINST him!

Good brief overview, but please work on pronunciation of Spanish or Portuguese words if you do any videos on such subjects in the future. Tordesillas was killing me.

This arrival date is officially in 1500, but it's quite possible the arrival came later.
I don't use the word discovery because the land was not empty.

40% of Africans slaves in Brazil. That explains why much of Brazil is a slum and governed by corruption. Just like most of Africa today.
