Does the method I describe below encapsulate and simplify the process (play the chord that carries the melodic note) outlined in your video?
METHOD: Find the basic chord to go with a melodic note played on the next down beat by choosing the root note for the chord at 1, 3, or 5 (+1 octave) note intervals BELOW the melodic note.
UUUUMU3U5
UU1UMU5UU
1U3UMUUUU
M=melodic note on next down beat
1=root note of basic chord
3=2nd note of the basic chord
5=3rd note of the basic chord

This is a truly magnificent method of teaching novices such as myself about melody to chords, or any subject for that matter. I've always said; if the teacher knows how to express their knowledge then the student/pupil usually gets it. That's just it, your method of expressing your know how is faultless. Not all teachers have this ability. Many thanks to you

2 Questions:
What chords would you have chosen if the note in the second bar would be F instead of D, so: F, B, G
Second questions: I have a melody i want to write chords to, which starts like: 8th pause, 16th F#, 16th G, 16th G, 16th F#, 8th G
So F#, G, G, F#, G
I hope you can help

For such a simple lesson, copy and pasting the easiest harmonies, the twist he did at the end was so satisfying!
When he used the melody as a bass line and used his right hand for walking chord progression I was like -

Hello, thank you for this video, it was really helpful. I created a nice melody yesterday and I was easily able to create a chord progression that complements my melody. So once again, thank you for your help.
