Classical voice types and vocal categories. This music theory lesson explains the various voice parts and clarifies vocal ranges. In the standard four-part choir we expect to find Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, and Basses. The Tenors generally sing at a range an octave below the Sopranos, while the Basses do the same below the Altos. Terms are clarified, such as the difference between Alto, Contralto and Counter Tenor, and the additional intermediate voices are also covered, such as the Mezzo Sopranos and Baritones. By the end of this music theory lesson you will understand the various voice types, their ranges, and the principles of writing for voices in a choral framework. to classical voice types 0:19 - Standard four-part choir 1:05 - Other voice types 4:30 - Vocal ranges

Thank you Gareth. I liked the part you laughed about using the wrong word. Hahaha.
Btw, I have a quick question.
Music theory is not something interesting to most people. How did you make it happen? You-re presumably doing great.

If I can span from E2 to E4 (E5 with falsetto) in extremes (not claiming I can hit those extremes in confidence and easily), what does that make me? :D

Note to the lads. Don't let any idiot tell you you're a 'lazy tenor'. You're a baritone, and you're in for a world of pain trying to do tenor songs.
