I have ADD, axiety and asberger's syndrom and i go to therapy. But it doesn't help very much. I have a hard time understanding what i can do for others to like me, and what makes me different. My mom says that people with this syndrom might react a little different than others or be intrested in different things. I feel i little more different from the girls in my class who likes lipgloss, boys and snapchat. I like more baggy clothes, no makeup and im not intrested in boys. I have a hard time in class and i cry very easy. I can cry just by hearing that i have a test in a week in something that im not good at. I get stresset and i don't show many emotions. I hate crying infront of people and laughing. So i do it quietly. Sometimes my classmates tell me after i had a presentaion that they could see that i was nervous because of my legs. It makes me very uncomfy and i prefer to present in front of one person, like a teacher.
I am not very loud during class and i get ignored very easy.
It's kind of hard to get to know me because i am currently not brave enough to just walk up to you and begin a conversation. If you say hi to me i will say hi back. If you begin to talk to me, i will listen and answer with an opinion or a question. If i just met you i might not give a long reply. But if you have known me for a while then you wont even be able to take a break. People might think that i look angry most of the time. But im actually just in my own bubble thinking. I will be here to support you if you need it. If you text me, i will text back no matter what. All that matters for me if that you feel safe and that you know that i love talking to you, because i might look shy, but then you get to know me i can be like a little kid in a candy shop. So please don't get me wrong by thinking i don't wanna hang out with you. I also perefear a group of friend with 2-3 people but not more.
I will be nice to you and ask you if you wanna go to the movies or something. I will try my best to make you have a great time then youre with me. I have lost 4 friends before that i really trusted. 1 that was my best friend in 2nd grade and 3 that was not really my friends, and they would trick me by asking me to plasy with them, and a litttle while later they would run away from me and teasing me calling me wierd nicknames likebun bun chin. The problem was that i had no idea why they ran away from me. So i had no choise but to deal with it. Thankfully i moved and bagen in a new school in 4th grade. And i had a great time most of the time.
Sometimes i like being alone after being with friends, it's like my medicine. I need to charge after being with them for many hours.
Then i was little i got this wierd chair because i had problems with my legs. I had less muscles in my left foot than my right. I had it till 7th grade and people liked to use it because it had weels on it, and it was wierd shaped, almost like the seat that many horses use but just like a chair. You chould lift ot higer up like 30cm higer than it's original heigt. So it was fun for them to speed it around the room. That made me happy. You know thoes girls in class that is like acting crasy to get attension? Yeah i don't understand them. They are making tiktok s during lunchbreak and jumping on eachothers back. I would even trust the person to be able to carry me.
Speaking of weight, i know lots of people that is stuggeling with their diet or what they eat. I have also had problems with weight. In 2019-2020 i bained up 20 kg in one year. That put a lot of preasure on me. I am currently 159 cm 13 years old 67, 9 kg(i ate a lot yeaterday and the days before) i think it's a normal weight for e teenager, maybe a little overweight, but i don't wanna be to skinny either. Eat what you want when you want, ignore the haters but remember to not get to many calories in your body with high sugar conten, or you might just end up in the hospital. I realize that i have beed writing a lot now, so i will just say one last thing.
Be yourselv and don't think about being like others. Be like you want to be, du what you wanna do and love yourself. For all thoes hardworking people and with strickt parents. You can stody as much as you want, but keep in ming that you should try to aming for the things you wanna do.

I know this video is old and definitely outdated, but it bothers me that they used Autism Speaks.
Also, I want to comment this so that people do not use this video as a way of learning information on autism, because the things I added in this comment are incorrect.
The first thing says autism affects more boys than girls: This is not correct - males who are on the spectrum tend to get diagnosed because they show more signs. Because of this, many autistic females (or AFAB people) go undiagnosed. Because they don't show as many signs.
Also I strongly dislike how they said that autism develops. It isn't something that develops, it is a difference in your brain and will always be there.
Also, people do not struggle with autism. It is once again, a difference in your brain. That's all.
If you are looking to find information about autism then maybe read some articles about autism written by autistic people.
Or watch other videos that do not include or support Autism Speaks.
(The reason Autism Speaks is bad): Autism Speaks supports a therapy called ABA. ABA is a therapy given to autistic individuals. It is abusive and traumatizing. They force nonverbal children to speak when they are not ready to, and do not allow autistic people to have access to sensory items. It basically teaches autistic people to suppress their autistic traits and forces them to mask.
Also Autism Speaks believes that autism can be cured. Autism cannot be cured, as it is not an illness or condition. Autism is a difference in your brain!
(This is coming from an autistic person.

PLEASE READ: This video uses outdated terms such as Asperger's syndrome. You can no longer get diagnosed with Asperger's, if you have been then you have autism. Instead of Asperger's, it's now classed as autism (ASD-Autism spectrum disorder. Another thing that is outdated is that 'boys are more likely to have autism than girls', this is VERY wrong. Both can have autism, infact, girls might be more likely to have it than boys! The reason for this is masking! Girls tend to hide their Autistic Traits to try and seem normal. Basically just putting on an act to be accepted in society (boys can mask too. The other outdated term is ADD. It is now just classified as ADHD. The last thing I want to mention is autism speaks! They are very toxic and harmful to the Autistic community, here's why:
-support abusive therapies for autistic people
-most of donations are not spent on autistic people or their family
-said many rude things about autistic people saying they can't get married and will ruin your life (they have said a bunch of other stuff too)
No hate to Psych2Go, I just wanted to clear some stuff up /nbr

I havent been diagnosed but there is a likelyhood that i might have aspergers. I have all the symptoms and my friends often comment about for example wierd speech patterns and other things. I took an online test (which doesnt really prove anything) but i tested positive with like 26/30 which is a very high likelyhood of aspergers. I kinda feel like i want a doctor to check if i have it or not but my parents dont really think anything of it and whenever i talk about that i feel a bit off from the rest they just like quit joking around or something. So i dont know what to do cuz i feel like i really want an answer but my parents just think im over reacting.

To clarify for anyone who may read this, Autism is more DIAGNOSED in boys than girls. Girls are just better at masking. I am a girl. I have Autism with prominent Aspergers. I wasnt diagnosed until I was fourteen, whereas my sibling, also a girl, was diagnosed in her infancy. The main reason she was diagnosed before me was because she had pervasive symptoms, ie excoriation, Trichotillomania. I was also ridiculously well adapted to my environment despite receiving no help for my issues. I have no qualms with this video, I just want to clarify some misinformation. Get a good UNBIASED doctor to test you before making an assumption, though.

I would love to see an updated video since this is three years old. I am autistic (properly diagnosed years ago) and not all of this is as true to ALL people on the spectrum as implied. Autism with high IQ without Aspergers can present in an atypical way and may look like they cope better because they mask, know what is expected, or can read body language through time. I can tell when people are sad or happy or mad etc, doesnt mean I know what to do with the information, but I recognise it.
Just wanted to point it out. Overall a helpful beginners tool though for people with limited experience or exposure to autism: )

I was in therapy for any a year and I barely talked to my therapist drying that year and she noticed my behavioural pattern she looked and asked me ab my interests and I was wondering why I was at her office all the the time when I was in the 3 or 4 I was contently in the head deputys office BC I hated talking to people and I was a problem child most of the time and that is how I have asperge's syndrome and can u also explain more ABT asperge's syndrome a bit more? Thx
reply

As someone diagnosed with Aspergers (when it was still an official diagnosis) I still think there should be a differentiation between classic Autism and Aspergers. Id suggest renaming Aspergers rather than merging it with classic Autism because it would help both parties get the proper treatment or help they both need rather than lumping them both into the same category. I dont suffer from social problems as much as I suffer from sensory problems and hyper fixations.

Wow, Thanks very much for this psych2go! This information was extremely useful.
I myself have a high function on the autism spectrum ever since I was four and consider it a golden peice to my life shaped jigsaw.
This will be such a helpful tip for future people il meet on the spectrum too to guide them with dollops of inspiration and to never feel ashamed of themselves.
To all of you individuals out there, follow your guiding stars!

My parents are really nice but they dont relise how much they overwhelm me like I have to talk to them and I dont like talking I wish I couldnt talk some times and like I tell them about things that are signs of autism but they just say you just more open about your emotions but what I said is like nothing in the big picture just on small detail and they dont know

1: 22 I know that one pair Social Challenge & communication issue (in respective order) that commonly occurs to me, is that things that'd be common sense for Non-Autistics, (a. k. a, Neurotypical) would slip by my radar.
Wheras, the other one being that I can easily misinterpret what others are saying. As well as that my sentences can sometimes be confusing.

It's a shame that Asperger is called autism. I don't see many similarities. people with Asperger's are also difficult to help because you have to break down everything you want to say into small pieces that the normal person can comprehend. and because your brain works so much faster than you can speak, communication is also very difficult. I have Asperger.

I got yelled at for years by my parents for being a spoiled brat and when I told them they raised me (Nature v. Nuture) they would get madder and then in my teens when I started to be over it and yelling back I got kicked out. Oh but they helped me moved out though. They were gonna send me off. My dad would hit me and my mom would just stand there and watch.
reply

Please dont listen to autism speaks they think autism can be cured(from what Ive heard but autism CANT be cured for it is not a disease) autism is as common in females as males however more males are diagnosed because more studies have been done on them males and females in autism and ADHD both have different symptoms based on your gender assigned at birth
reply

Everything in this video is so insanely wrong, for example boys are not more likely to have autism than girls, they just get diagnosed more because the diagnosis criteria favours them more and its quite concerning how you bring autism speaks up very often, even though they are the most unreliable and very notorious for being an autism hate group. _.
reply

I actually have autism I think I do have a hard time making friends and fitting in I made one friend but betrayed my trust by telling everyone in the school I have autism I only told her cause I feel comfortable but since I have a hard time fitting and and talking she thought I would not even talk about it or care I was done with her
reply

Me being a autistic person, I find it hard to Focus, fit in, or be myself or try to act like others. It feels like its not allowed. And Im 10. yeah quite young, but thanks for putting the time into this video: ) idk if this is all autism but yknow, people make mistakes, oh-! Mistakes! I also feel like that is not allowed either
reply

So I was diagnosed with Aspergers at 4 I am a little worried about it as if it is something that may affect you badly in adult hood and also saw a bunch of sites that people with autism and Aspergers may have a shorter life on average they said my Aspergers may live only 50 years
reply

Im 13 year old and I feel like I might be autistic but Im too scared because I dont want to tell my mom about having a diagnosis. I do have ADHD but I think some of my symptoms of autism are just from that. Can some people with autism help me? Or someone give me advice or help?
reply

I had troubles breathing during birth due to under developed lungs and pressure was pushing down on me.
I had to get out of there surgically, because Mom was sick with high blood pressure.
At least, I am alive.
Ask Mom, she knows what happened.

reply

As someone with autism, it really does vary depending on the spectrum, for example i can immediately tell what someone is feeling from their body language, but it will be really difficult for me to figure out why, and i will overthink a ton
reply

Autism is autism and Aspergers isn't real. Either you're autistic or you're not. Neither the autistic community or professionals use this term anymore not only because it is incorrect but also has harmful roots going back to the holocaust.
reply

I stopped watching when I heard Autism Speaks
Generally, I like Psych2Go, but I have no respect or use for Autism Speaks. Im a bit disappointed that its mentioned here (and not in a critical way, which would have been acceptable)

reply
