Are you looking for tips on understanding others better and their behavior? If psychology has taught us anything, its that people are complicated. While theres no quick and easy way to assess a persons true character and motivations, there are a few tips and tricks that can help you gain insight into someone's mind. We've made a list of a few things you didn't know that can tell you a lot about someone. If you're interested in things like human behavior and body language, we've recently released a video on body language. You can check that out after this video

The music one is highly questionable: notice that classical concert music was totally omitted! It's naive to think music always reflects listeners. Some young people think they're expressing individuality in their music when in fact they're just being bombarded by commercial media music at an age when their hormones will make them love ANYTHING with certain chord progressions. Some people's music reflects who they really are, whilst others' what they WANT to be. And both those categories can be conscious or unconscious. Some are fascinated by music that complements them, others by what expresses them. And of course, some fake it via peer conditioning. Nothing's that simple.

This video was fun, hehe! But I have something to say about the shopping cart issue. Actually a lot of people at my place don't return the shopping carts (idk why) and I absolutely dislike that. They're always standing around anywhere and that's not pleasant to look at, besides I feel bad for the supermarkets because shopping carts are surely not cheap. So you do gain something from bringing them back, so it's all of this what makes me believe it's the right thing to do! :3

I finally get my brother-in-law. he STARES YOU DOWN and makes you uncomfortable. He's a kind and friendly person - almost TOO interested in the lives of those around him - but something has always been off. Finally, when eye squinting was mentioned, it all made sense. His intense eye contact communicates being self-confident, but the squinting shows that he's threatened. It's an eerie combo, and I tend to try to avoid being left in a room alone with him

Many people have commented as to how someone treats family is a tell tale sigm too. My parents bicker and nit pick at what others would consider normal like wanting to meet a friend for lunch, coming home after sunset, wanting to go out after sunset, choice of clothes isnt religion appropriate etc. This makes me want to avoid conflict and agree with what they say. However, in other settings am not meek. So I guess the context varies too.

5: 17 the shopping cart theory doesn't work in germany because if you don't return it, people will see. And they will make you feel uncomfortable I think.
I don't know for sure because I always return mine
Maybe the people are just nice where I live
Or it's the fact the we put money in the cart as a sort of deposit and get it back when we return it. They're locked together and the mone unlocks them, so people don't steal them

Activewear denotes dependability! I guess the people who were producing the movie of my early childhood experiences must have been limited in the wardrobe budget or they just never consulted with costume design/wardrobe on the people who were in all those track suits that ended up in federal prison for racketeering when we needed to have them to adult our own lives in the late 80s but hey that's just one person's experience.

That's funny about the shopping cart. Years ago I had a brand new Ford Ranger. Small truck only 3 weeks old. I came out from the grocery store in a very windy day. Someone's cart had blown into my truck leaving it's first dink in the hood. After that I swore I did never do that to someone else. I always put the cart back. Just a small thing but made a big impression on me.

basically how to stalk someone and know everything abt them.
. lol jk jk
I mean it cant be only me who thinks that checking out people's social media, the way they dress, and analysing their behaviour is creepy.
ofcrs unless you're a psychatrist or psychologist or smth
or u just don't trust people (like me)

According to body language expert Joe Navarro, and other body language experts, the crossed arms is more like a soothing self-hug, and doesnt necessarily mean defensiveness. I can see why one would think that and also have done and even sometimes still do myself. But it just means the person is uncomfortable and trying to help themselves.

Im a very anxious person who constantly cant make eye contact because of shyness or distraction (because of my ADHD) but when I find someone attractive I will either have trouble looking them in the eye or make excessive eye contact, sometimes with an emotionless expression, so it comes off as creepy

reply

This isnt exactly correct. I wear laid back clothing because I hate my body and I want to be the last person people look at when Im in public. I wear hoodies all year round because I panic at the thought of someone seeing my skin/body and thinking ew shes fat and has stretch marks. Im not easy going Im anxious af

3: 14 im curious, is that your actual number of tracks on your playlist? Or is it just to show that people can like a TON of tracks without really growing tired of them, if its the first one then we can compare that to mine, which is like almost a thousand of mostly remixes

One of my kids has asked people, Do you return your cart, or are you a villain? I think of that every time I see carts in random places. Ill never understand why some people dont return them. It takes zero effort to show this small act of consideration for others.
reply

Seriously now? Do people need to be told that body language and social media convey information about a person? Up to now I thought social media posts are random and totally irrelevant to the poster's interests. Who could have thought.
reply

Also, how a person drives can tell you a lot too- Are they impatience? (self-center? Are they willing to let the cars get into their lane? How carefully they are to the pedestrian and biker?
reply

Bad eye contact can also mean possible autism. Narrowed eyes can mean they need glasses. Some people have broad tastes in music as well, making them difficult to read based on music choices.
reply

I ALWAYS return the shopping trolley.
I HATE it when people leave them lying in the middle of a parking space (unless they're old and have problems pushing it, then that's understandable.

reply

Shoping card theory is a surprising thing to observe. Just set things in tact, so everyone can use them, it is so obvious, proper for me! I know a real story, but with a sad end
reply

As somebody who has collected many shopping carts at my job. I strongly appreciate the inclusion of the shopping cart theory. We really do notice if you leave it or return it
reply

People still judge you and dont want to be your friends and not have a relationship with you and hate you and not willing to help you even when looking for a job
reply

yea theres an easy and quick way to finding out someone's character. it's all intuition
meet enough people and you start to see patterns all over the place

reply

When it comes to the shopping cart theory there is sometimes another reason they put it back for me its that my mom threatens me with taking my phone away
reply

Only thing I really learned is how inconsistent I am with my body language, from all 7 I give off maybe 4 or 5 different personalities
reply

returning the shopping cart is easy & convenient. if you're in decent shape and you're not dragging multiple small children with you
reply

A real deal breaker for me is of someone keeps their rubbush and dispose of it at the correct space. Not throwing it just anywhere.
