I clicked on this to confirm what I thought about my most recent relationship. #1 was kinda there but #2 and 6 though, holy shit.
Sorry for rant/ramble belpw but yeah.
#2 They don't ask about you or your day -
I would be constantly doing anything I could to make sure she was happy, however I could. Yet I basically never got that in return. I had one really bad day at work, where I called to see if I could come over to her house. I was hoping for some comfort from my girlfriend of several months, but when I got there, she behaved no different than any other day, sitting there on her phone, texting her various friends. It only made me feel worse, having seeked her out for comfort, only to not have my needs even considered.
#6 They're always taking but never giving back -
I poured my heart and soul into our relationship, focusing as much as I could on her. I did anything and everything I could to emotionally support her, and show my affection. In return, I was lucky to cuddle for a few seconds, and only if I asked. The last few months, there wasn't even that much. Just a sad I'm sorry, I don't want to before she turned her attention back to her phone, that moment of sorrow instantly gone. There was virtually no affection shown from her, while I practically drowned her in as much as I could provide.

number 6 happened with my birthday
TW VENT
about a month before my birthday I told them it was my birthday soon. they said they would write is down and never forget it.
again, the week before my birthday I reminded them, they said, again, they would never forget about it. then it was finally my birthday, I told them how my day was going and stuff, but no response. I did the same thing every day, but still no response. about a week after my birthday I commented on their TikTok instead, asking why they didnt respond to me, and they replied with im just really stressed out right now, I just said it was okay. ngl that really crushed me. they tell me that they were stressed these past few days, but meanwhile it was my literal birthday, and the one person I wanted to remember forgot. a week after that I texted them I knew you would forget with their response being hm? I told them it was my birthday 2 weeks ago, and they had ignored me the whole time. And guess what? Their response was i didnt forget, I just didnt know what day it was. But I had told them multiple times? Sorry for venting like this, I just had to get it out somewhere

Last night he called me selfish but I went with him to shoot pool instead of homework despite how bored and depressed I was. He doesn't want to visit my friends or family at all but we always see his friends and family. I can be selfish by talking over him. And every time he says well do something we end up not doing it. Like when I got excited thinking I'd go to medeavil times with him and instead he took the day to watch soccer and fall asleep. Or when he was like I'm inviting u on the camping trip despite it being a man's trip and then the week before the trip he changed his mind said its his vacation and its a guys thing that he won't come see me on my birthday either. When he knew thanksgiving was my birthday.

At first I was thinking maybe my relationship was one sided, but Im starting to realize that these situations do happen, but not because they force me too, because I am constantly trying to cater to them rather than even try anything that could do anything for me. While they dont notice it or much about my problems I also play an issue to that they dont ever put effort in usually ever (theyll text a cute promise or compliment, but never do anything like that in person) I feel like Im more of a problem because of my fear of being a burden to them, to the point Im scared of even having a conversation about how I feel rather than how they feel.

I just realized that I found all these signs in the one I care about so much. I always want to make them happy, and I have to be so careful towards them to make sure I don't unintentionally upset them. It has always been me who will ask how they are first, but I hardly hear they ask about me. I care about every little thing that can make them happy, I don't mind if I don't receive anything back. Just a pat, a hug and some words of kindness, are those too much to ask?
I don't know. I've been feeling unloved and un-cared the entire time in this relationship, so I think it's time I need to stop and move on. :(

my boyfriend and I are both mentally ill + neurodivergent, which makes a relationship a lot harder than I expected. we don't always check in on each other because we both crash a lot, since daily life is so exhausting for us both. I overthink a lot and need constant reassurance that he still likes me. he holds things in a lot and eventually it all boils over. but we still love each other. we still try to visit each other and play video games together and talk about things we care about with each other. for those of you who may be anxious about your relationship, it'll be okay. take a breath.

Id love to have a video about how obsessing and idealizing someone is dangerous and how to break through it: ( I used to have my best friend who was always there for me suddenly breaking off all contacts and I just kept on trying to stick with them making them even more uncomfortable because I became toxic. I wished I had some advice back then and realized sooner
reply

Yall i broke up with him today. It's valentines and i decided to bake him a cake, it took so much effort to make and bring to his house. Not only he didnt give me anything, he didnt even say thank you. I was like are you for real? You cant even say thanks? He was like for what? I left then and there
reply

Fun fact, if you want someone to love you who never notices you, just appear more in their daily life. If you are I'm high school, just take similar routes as your crush. She will see you more, and unconsciously become a little more familiar with you. It also creates an unconscious attraction.

A more philosophical question but important nontheless: Aren't all loves one-sided if you being correct? There's always one wanting more. It is how it keeps going: we wind it up until there is no turning point back --> we're in love ---> we confess love --> open ending

exactly the same thing happened to me on valentines day. I spent week making the perfect present for him and on the morning of valentines day he said he didn't have time to get me anything and just bought me maccas. really broke my heart.

I always tell my boyfriend that we're a team but when I ask him what movie do you want to watch? Even single time he says Whatever queen wants like I understand he want me to be happy but I would really love to hear some of his opinions.
reply

I still remember the year that my boyfriend made me a card that was clever and personalized for Valentines day. It was a total win until I read the inside where he wished me a happy 3rd Valentines day together. it was our 4th.

Does 'love' even exist? Most of what I observe everywhere is just people pretending that they love each other because they need someone to ease their loneliness and their selected partner is just the best they could do at the moment.

I used to date this guy who literally went up to me on my birthday, gave me a little bag of CHIPS and then later texted me and asked where HIS GIFT WAS! Some people are so selfish. Its just better to end the relationship
reply

I feel attacked by the title, but not about the signs.
Let's just say, I've been living on that since I was little.
Never been in a relationship but you know.
I could say this one is about one sided but the toxic one.

As so often I listen to your videos (yes I listen, rarely watch at the same time, why - because I can) on relationships, it IS helpful to think not ONLY about romantic relationship but ALL kinds and do some soulsearching.
reply

Im sure personality matching also has a big effect on relationships. Pls do a video series on MBTI compatibility. Im an ENTJ with an ESFP. They say opposites attract but its really hard to get along sometimes.
reply

This just reminds me of my dad rather than my boyfriend. Because of which I think I might have attachment issues and my boyfriend pushes me away sometimes like I get it it's my fault. I'm working on it I'm sorry
reply

1 They talk over you
2 They don't ask about your day
3 It's always their way
4 They control you with their rules
5 Don't listen to your opinion
6 Always take never give

We're kinda weird. I have self-love issues. He tries to get me to talk about myself, but I struggle to open up he's been helping get better, tho he makes me feel like maybe I'm worth more then I thoght
reply

Once you have kids your dating life is completely different. If you're dating a single mother they will probably seem selfish but it's because they are putting their kids first. as they should.
reply

I have realized I do some of the points in the video. I will try to be better towards my girlfriend, I may fail sometimes but i will try my best because i love and care about her
reply

He always said my love was one-sided
I tried to keep up with supply and demand

so after swearing off relationships for a decade to punish myself for being toxic, it turns out that i was actually just fine and punishing myself for the wrong reasons. oops!
