I'm not cut for relationships. Even if i wanted it's a lost cause, i don't interest women at all. Something in my behaviour is surely off. Socially akward and anxious. I like too much to be alone, in a chill environment, therefore i don't like that much parties with a lot of people involved, it's just a pain in the ss. I think a lot of people understand what i mean. Just go or be in a party with 10+ people, i can't relax that's crazy but even with people i genuinely like, if they are too much, it drains me. Sometimes i go to the bathroom or just take some air outside just to be alone for 30 seconds hahhaa. Going in parties is not to please myself, it's to accept invitations from my friend in order them to not think i don't like them anymore. i'm 100% sure some people will relate to this.
My only true friend that i see really regurlarly is my best friend, i know him since we're children, we're 30 + yo now. He is kinda like me, he likes calm environment and can't stand to stay in crowded environment. When i'm with him, we could not speak for 10 min+ it wouldnt be awkward. He is someone that value silence and time, not flexing achievments or forcing himself to impress others all the time. I think you know what i mean.
Sometimes it's a little bit hard, i struggle and feel alone, not important or some S like that. Even with my family it's a social disaster, didnt see them for years now. But yeah, I put myself together and force myself to stay mentally strong, like self cheering. Trying to stay lucid and stoic. No one is gonna help me, i'm a man, at the end of the day, no one care
Aaaah. this is not easy. but to be honest my life isn't that terrible tho, there is a lot of good things too, i have a roof above my head, a job and able to save money.
That should be enough to be happy. right?

I'll openly admit that I am not happy being single. I'm not just conflicted between my heart and mind, i am conflicted both in my heart and in my mind.
As a family man who never expected to be divorced (but now is, I know that I'm conflicted. I thought that my marriage would be til death do us part. That was the commitment that I made, and that was what I expected in return.
I don't want to be alone, but I was hurt by my partner (married 20 years, gave her my all, then she left me for someone else. That pain of rejection is a constant reminder of my aloneness.
It's been two years, and as lonely as I feel, it's hard to even think about being in a relationship without feeling inadequate and unready for a new one. I ask myself if i have anything left to give.
Plus, I got diagnosed with adult ADHD just a few years ago, and I'm still getting to know the part of me that I was masking for decades. I want someone to see me for me, to love and accept me for who I really am, not criticize me for flaws that I can't fix.
I wonder if I'll ever be ready for a new relationship again, but long to be in one with someone who will love me as selflessly as I know I would love her.
At the moment, I'm scared to take a chance. to risk my heart again. Plus, i don't even know where to meet someone who's available, because everyone that I meet (especially the women that I am attracted to)
seem to be in committed relationships. and I would never want to break up someone's relationship like mine was broken.
So like the title of this video says, I don't want to be single. but for now, I am. For now, it's also easier to just stay single. or it at least feels safer.

Oh man, there would be so very much to talk about this issue. Heart should not be completely neglected, of course, but mind has to lead in every situation. The best way may be that of the mind teaching the heart how to handle a given situation. The heart can sometimes be a wild horse having no idea what it is rushing into, so a mind/tamer is needed in order to keep it away from dangers it is not aware of 'cause of its untamed nature and lack of foresight. And the level of independence in a relationship is (like anything else in it, really) a two-side issue. One may be willing to grant it to the partner, but another very different thing is how that partner relates to this, for there are cases in which the obsessive nature of the given partner's attachment may be too much to bear, so that while one is giving independence, one is actually not receiving it, i. e. it is not being reciprocated. This is indeed an issue with many levels of complexity, and the most common mistake is to think of it as a purely one-sided situation, whereas everything revolves around two different egos with their own understanding of what's going on in that relationship, and how things should develop in it. Oh, BTW, the more the failed relationships, the more experience gained, thus the more the possibilities of finding a functioning match according to the wealth of experience gained along the way. Failure should not lead to discouragement, but exactly the opposite. One only learns out of failures, after all.

I feel a bit caught out. I'm 37 and getting divorced this week. My relationship with my ex husband ended after 7 years due to lack of communication. In addition, I always wanted more in life, wanted to grow, but he didn't. Our connection was lost and in retrospect it wasn't as deep as I would have liked. My problem is: I'm an author and I regularly slip into the roles of my characters, so to speak, into their lives. That's why I'm currently trying to figure out if that's really me who is more interested in women and a relationship full of adventure, growth and creativity. As an INFJ, I unfortunately run the risk of wanting an ideal type that doesn't exist. I know a million ways how to meet the love of your life and can write it down for you. but being pactical isn't my strengh. Sometimes I really think it would be nice to have a partner in crime, to grow together, etc. And then I think. what do I do with all my creative projects? Theoretically, I know that with the right person I can implement things even better. And what will think the others, if I'm really into woman. But well. building trust in another person and really opening up isn't easy for me as an INFJ, even if I'm crave for deep relationships. I'm working on that and I have to find it out one day or another. But I definitely want to take steps in that direction this year. My Theme for this year is love.
So thank you for this video and for remembering me, working on my self to be every day a little bit better.

i think i just miss the independence and freedom of choice. My past was dark as most people's are. But my past molded me to have ideals I have today and still have to try and integrate in my day to day life just being in a relationship. I love my partner but im afraid of not getting the full chance to pursuit what I want or need due to feeling like I can't even leave the house on my own without worrying if she feels lonely or sad if I'm gone. It makes me wonder what my life would be like if I stayed single. Its about the opportunities I possibly missed just being by myself. The accomplishments. Not saying in the relationship there aren't any, but I've become more of a caregiver than a partner at times it feels like. Personal development is a big milestone in my partner's life that hasn't necessarily been accomplished. It's hard to deal with when external issues are involved in our day to day life. Its a desperate tug and pull. It definitely more or less takes a toll on who or what i've been and become.

I know that I want to be in a relationship, but just feel that I'm not ready, and sometimes I feel that I never will be. I'm 25M and I've never been in one, so my lack of experience makes me fear being in one, as well as feel that it'll soon be too late for me to be in one. Also, due to my personal circumstances, there are so many barriers to entry for me. I live in a rural area with almost nothing to do, and I also literally have no friends, and thus, no social circle to potentially link me with someone to form a relationship with. So really, I just don't know what to do or what steps to even take to try and be in one. The only thing I have is a Bumble account that I have not yet activated, I want to at some point, but don't know when. I'm also afraid to even try due to the horror stories I've heard about how hard online dating is for men.
So yeah, I sometimes feel completely screwed out of being in a relationship. I know I'll take steps at some point, but when that'll be, I have no idea.

reply

It's hard for some to fathom. The amount of times I've been lectured, even screamed and cursed at, since it became known that I'd given up dating. They never imagined that someone being told, repeatedly, that they weren't needed or wanted, might stay away. That a man who now has a busy schedule and hobbies, might not be enthusiastic, about trying dating again.
They say you didn't try hard enough, or there's someone for everyone, or someone will love you, for you. I'm inclined to believe that some of us have been permanently excluded. Would it be nice, to have someone? Sure. But I think I'm simply not what women are looking for, and I've been told as such. Now, women (many of which are fresh off of terrible relationships) are saying they want safe and boring. Someone who they can trust. Not buying it.
Basically, a part wants to try again, but logic overrides all of it.

i can understand if people are discouraged to engage in relationships if their had difficult or even traumatic experiences. also, friends who have toxic traits/an discouraging environment can reinforce this believes.
But: if you find someone you can trust, loves you for who you are, encourages & supports you, you can make new experiences. maybe experiences you couldn t make before, snd that s ok! as everyone has its own story. i also believe in a loving relationship, you are being encouraged to both grow together & develop your personal desires & needs. the right one won t make you feel like you have to run.
it takes a lot of courage to make a first step but it can only be a win-win situation in my eyes.
i m so aftaid to fly. what if i m going to fall? - Oh darling, but what if you ll fly?

reply

Warning I overshared and trauma dumped and don't wanna delete it for whatever reason I'm glad I'm single so I don't need to constantly be worried over somebody else and can literally waste the day away doing what I want, plus in this day and age there's almost no way I'd not be constantly worried if they were out cheating or something. And I guess yeah that sounds pretty bad now I say it out loud.
Even though being single is nice, I really do also wish I had someone to help heal and understand me. Like seriously, I HAVE to cuddle a pillow to go to sleep or I ball into a fetal position. Literally only even started hugging my pillow because of a dual-codependent long distance relationship. But hey, at least I grew as a person. Life's just giving me character development by making me crazy in love then crazy in depression

I want to be alone because:
- in my last relationship I was used as an emotional bandage, I was used as a consolation after my ex's previous relationship and I promised myself that I would not do the same to anyone else.
- I bought an apartment, I'm moving to a new city and I know how much work and time it will take - I don't have the time needed to build relationships and I don't want to take anyone's time
- I know I need to be alone for a while, to calm down a lot of things in my head
My heart wants to love and be loved. I miss this feeling. Many times during the week or when I go to bed I think how wonderful it would be to have someone to talk to, spend romantic time with, feel supported and present. But unfortunately this is not the right moment in my life.

Deciding to be single can be a tempting idea, but often our hearts yearn for connection. Balancing the benefits of independence with the richness of a healthy relationship, built on trust and open communication, can be rewarding for both individuals. In a partnership, it's crucial to foster an environment where both partners feel free, akin to allowing birds to fly without clipping their wings.
In the dance of hearts, a choice unfolds,
To be single or together, stories untold.
In love's embrace, trust and open skies,
A healthy bond where each heart flies.
Freedom's breeze, like birds in flight,
Cherished moments, pure and bright.
With whispered words and shared dreams,
Love blossoms, like flowing streams.

I'm 19, and this video kinda relates to me at my current moment. I've been feeling really depressed and hopeless lately, and I always think about relationships and that I believe I will never experience one, it ruins my mood every time I think about it and I can't stop including things to do with the future also. I've been single my entire life, and I would love to experience a relationship, but I doubt I'll never meet a girl who loves me and that I also believe I'm not ready for a relationship as I don't even love myself yet, so I'm not ready to love someone back even though I want too! I also don't have the time or money, and I would rather focus on myself to improve myself, but relationships always come into my head.

Im problematic because ive never been fufilled in relationships, ive been over loving and attached despite my partners unrequited feelings, and when i did have a good thing going with someone i developed a crush on someone else and it all fell apart, now im convinced nobody will ever fufill what i want in a partner and that ill always end up running away, thats why im just gathering friendships and new experiences because that way i can be honest without hurting anyones feelings, im waiting until someone comes along and makes me fall 100000099000% in love and they are too and it hust works and i dont like anybody else, that or maybe polyamory but that could also be very draining, im a mega flirt but i never commit
reply

I feel like it's the opposite.
I want to be in a relationship so I can get all the advantages, like getting a house, my country has a lot of things to promote getting married and having children, stuff like that.
Plus I have a friend who was hurt really badly in the past and doesn't want to get into a relationship again. Getting married to me might actually solve some of her other problems and I can help her with her other goals if she wants, I don't mind.
But my heart keeps going she's not the girl I like. She's attractive and nice. Technically fits every requirement I have but for some reason at some point I just stopped being able to move on and I still like someone from a long time ago.

reply

For me it's the opposite. I don't want to be single, but my heart wants to be single. I didn't want it to be this way, but I feel so happy with my life by myself and every time I try to bring someone else into my life it feels like I'm splitting my time between being happy and being in a relationship. For my entire life I convinced myself that I just haven't found the right person, but in recent years I have decided that I need to stop looking. If said person show up: great! And if they don't: I'm already happy by myself, no reason to change a team that's winning.
reply

I'd say for me everything except exploration is true. And still I consider I dont want relationships of any kind. I can be happy on my own and that's the key reason. If I'm happy in peaceful solitude no one will ever complement this hapiness without ruining its tranquility. No one. Ever. So the door remains shut. I want to be on my own and never be disturbed against my will, my desires and my ideals. I'm 28 and I have tons of fun by myself and I have tons of creative projects to fullfill. So no thank you, idea of true eternal love is just not for me. Period.

I've got conflicting views on getting into a relationship, on one hand I'd love to have someone to chat with about stuff, to snuggle up to at night, hell, I'd even settle for just existing by them. Unfortunately on the other, I know I can't contribute much to the relationship, my emotions are out of sorts and I mentally check out with people pretty fast nowadays. My brain is jank.
To add on, I'm not good at telling people personal things so any relationship would wind up failing because mentally and emotionally I'm locked off. Thanks societal norms.

reply

I think my life could have plenty of meaning without a relationship as I believe life has a lot more to offer than romance and physical touch. However, I find myself wanting those things, and it seems like it would be unjustified of me to settle for someone I don't truly love or hooking up to fill the void. I know I'm greyace and greyaro. I'm not sure if there is more at work here, I just assume I'm different. I'm not necessarily unhappy single either. I feel like I've made peace with the idea that I could live my whole life and never experience it.
reply

I feel like this video says a lot about me and why am single. but I also feel like I just bring other person down if I where to be with them. not to mention I feel like I wouldn't be good enough or ready for a relationship idk. but like I say it's a lot of personal issues I feel like why I've never truly been with anyone. Also on one hand i don't mind being single and even sometimes like being single but i guess i do wouder what a relationship with someone is like and i guess i like the idea of love and romantic sometimes.
reply

As a 15 year old kid, im honestly fine being single, i mean i have friends that have cute relationships and im honestly happy for them, but for me, nah im fine, besides im free as the wind and explore new areas and such like sonic the hedgehog, besides i have a lot of friends in life, and at school mostly i have a lot of female friends, that actually are interested in me and we just talk in a friendly way, and all of my classmates see me with my female friends as like a couple
