Reminds me a harsh comment I heard from a relative: Society is not to blame for you feeling ugly and fat people are weak and disgusting, all these people talking about inner beauty and body positive are pathetic while the same person starves and smokes tons of cigarrettes to tolerate the hunger, has more than one cosmetic intervension that are both expensive and not lasting, spends even nore money in creams and cosmetic that really do nothing and looks even older than me despite being 3 years younger due to all this stress. This beuaty standards DO caus harm indeed.

I don’t have 100% flawless skin because even though I wash my face every day I still get acne I’m not the skinny 13 year old girl I used to be I was called ugly from 4 grade to almost all of my school time
And I don’t have a boyfriend and today I still struggle with my mental health but day by day I try every day to overcome my insecurities and accept myself for who I am and everyday I see my own beauty.

A thing that has REALLY helped me when it comes to beauty standards, is that I look back at all of the different past Beauty standards in human history. And how ridiculous some of them truly got
Learning about some of the stuff people were doing to themselves in the Middle Ages and the Victorian period actually made me quite appreciative of just having a body in the present.

1) I only did a cosmetic surgery to fix a droopy eyelid problem for both eyes as the eyelashes keep going into my eyes.
2) I avoid social media; some anime and manga; some mobile and video games; and all gossip and fashion magazines. Mostly because I can't stand looking at them when I struggle with my own traumas over being bullied for my appearance and behavior growing up.

I don't really understand why people are calling these standards. Those people are models and actresses, they are cherry picked out of hundreds to catch people's eyes to sell products, no one with any common sense is expecting average people to look like that.

Crushing over a wrong dude who pressurize you and torcher you for not being good looking, thats another problem.
However I told him directly if you find my bestie, my cousin blabla attractive, ask them out. Finally get rid of that NPD asshole.

I'm 35
Was extreme overweighted my whole life. I am 15 kg away from normal weight. but yeah. I'm old now. My skin is extremely loose so I have to fight again but this time for the operation. .I know that I still will feel like shit.

Im gen x and i grew up without the pressures around today mostly because of social media. Thankfully none of it affects me, i just think its so sad for people to feel these superficial standards that are meaningless

Well done! Definitely I've chosen my definition of beauty by giving a freedom to my skin. I never really took to wearing proper makeup all the time, but in the last few years I have given it up completely.

I have tsh hormonal problems, so to get thin I just eat too less but due to that I'm having low pressure, malnutrition. but still people say I'm eating and sleeping whole day so I'm fat.

And then people wonder why no one care about reality anymore simple it's because it's flawed but we want perfection. without caring of the price and any imperfections can get you harass
reply

See why people, especially women, want to change how they look just to fit into the modern beauty standards. Society is so judgemental these days. Everyone is beautiful in their own way.
reply

Never understood the fascination on looks, it has nothing to do with who they are as a person besides insecurities or ego gained from a society that wants everyone to be the same.
reply

There is nothing wrong with appreacting beauty but you cant abuse someone just bcz of their looks or social status, he could have said NO directly.
reply

Modern Beauty Standards are the same standards that have existed for centuries. The only difference is that the attractive people are easier to find.
reply

We place all our values on aesthetics because we're slaves to operational conditioning and good guys/girls are always beautiful in fiction.

If different state laws didn’t make it a tough topic, I’d request a video about dealing with tough/toxic supervisors or bosses.
reply
