What If We Covered the Sahara With Solar Panels?
video description
Corrupt Africa would get involved with China at some point after the corruption money slows down and thered be wars like there already are in the region including Sudan at this very minute as I write this.
The rate of required maintenance will go up so much as well as solar panels only last around 25 years, and Im not sure wed be able to maintain such a large operation in such a dangerous uncivilized place while relying on Chinese materials, having tg maintain relationships with some of the most unstable unpredictable parts of the globe.
Theres a reason the Sahara isnt developed, and I dont think that reason is going to change any time soon. Why not just build 50 nuclear plants in Kansas? That sounds more reasonable.

Unfortunately we humans has been keeping using our planet resources rather than using resources from the sun, imagine if we could have implement this before the boom of petroleum and coal, we won't have many problems now from climate changes to pollution, we have been using our planet resources from petroleum to metal that someday going to run out and we would have no choice but to think of using other planets or create our resources from nothing, even today we are thinking of using green energy which is essentially from our planet just in another form rather than getting it from the sun or the wind because of the cost of implementation -

What if we got geothermal energy. It is a smaller foot print and does not rely on the sun. There is also the weather systems that are there. How often will these panels have to be replaced after these huge storms. The max life of these panels is at the very most 10 years. There needs to be real solutions. Solar is a cool idea, but it uses expensive rare earth materials that need to be tasked for more important needs. If 30 percent were replaced after each major storm, that is trillions in losses. There are fusion facilities that are nearly fully functional with a much smaller footprint.

8: 22 If this does happen in other Arabian regions part of Saudis 2030 Greener plan and the side effects do occur, it would indeed prove the prophecy made by the Prophet Muhammad PBUH 1400 years ago:
--The Last Hour will not come before- wealth becomes abundant and overflowing, so much so that a man takes Zakat out of his property and cannot find anyone to accept it from him and till -the land of Arabia reverts to meadows and rivers. -- [Sahih Muslim 157c]
Arabia of course in that context does not mean the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia but the entire Arabian Peninsula

What if you think with brain and ask q question-s?
what if we start to improve a 100 years old tec
and drop all restrictions & bs to do it.
after all Logic and Reality should be the finest drivers
and longlife and clean enviroment should be the moto.
there are tons of many other many better ways any combination ways collaburation ways to do it.
This overly feeding one narrative is like -not Rigth

it all depends on how they construct the solar panels.
if you have them at ground lvl. you can not use the are for other things.
if you put the solat pannels in 2 meters hight. the ground under will be cooler. and maybe also plant vegestabels under the solar panels.
but it would also be a very good idea to make some 3 km high mountains, that will condense the huid in the air. and rain will fall on the mountain

Definitely possible, but very unlikely. The masses can barely wrap their heads around solar to begin with.
They don't understand the jobs, military defense, migration etc and how it would also effect the world.
One large city flanked by 2 solar sized states would be the most desirable in the world.
Saudi's and Iran's governments would angred by the huge financial loss.
The world just hates each other.

Solar panels and the required inverters and batteries are so inefficient and prone to needed replacement (inverters/batteries) that rarely do homeowners ever get their return on investment by attempting to go off grid. It is dangling carrots for the ignorant to waste tens of thousands of $! And it wastes an incredible amount of space on Earth with ugly, inorganic garbage. Don-t buy into the solar panel bait and lie.

Covering the entire desert with Solar Panels - is a very foolish idea. The desert needs restoration of living cells ie trees, grass insects animals etc, for more water including every natural things such as animals and people. Solar panels may stay on our roofs or else where. Humans are not the only spices on earth. Selfish old fashioned ideas must be stopped. Good day.

That would be dumb. Use self running generators and power walls in homes and businesses for seemingly endless clean energy everywhere all the time. No gas or crude oil and is able to keep going 24/7. We already have many technologies, that would make our world far better. We just aren't using it. Seriously. Check it out yourselves.

I always found that saltmelter mirror power plant amazin. ofc they need to clean it all the time which is huge maintenance but man. this stuff looks like it-s straight outta cyberpunk (except the similar looking things in Cyberpunk collect -microwaves from space satellites to generate energy-(which would be very dangerous)

Why are you mixing vision of PV arrays in with thermal reflective arrays?
I-ve seen other videos showing the thermal reflective arrays as a huge flop as they cost more to build than the energy they produce.
They look very nice though.
The more I listen the less your assumptions make sense.

I mean. The practical issues involved in such a thing as fairly obvious, aren't they? Sand, glass, wind. Fairly high maintenance costs. Then the insane amount of infrastructure to distribute the energy across vast distances (oceans, mountains. Then, the political issues in Africa.

Its speculation that when Sahara turns green, Amazon dies. No fact can support to this premise. This is old cold war thinking. US is afraid that African countries economies are emerging when taken together is formidable potentials for development and competitor for the US.

The winds will no longer be able to pick up as much fertile sand as before, therefore less of it will be carried over the Atlantic to finally rain down over the Amazon basin, which fertilizes the entire region.
What will happen ist, that the Amazon rainforest will die.

Solar panels have a lifespan of10-20 years, then they need replaced. At the price you-re quoting it seems extremely inefficient. Think of the damage it would cause to the earth just to mine and process the materials needed for that many solar panels, every 10-20 years!

Solar and wind energy is really inefficient when placed in a normal area. In the sahara, it would be nice but the panels would just get eaten by sand which means repairing it would be unsustainable. Nuclear energy is the most efficient clean energy source.

It would not green the Sahara. ATM the Sahara refects ligh and energy back into space reducing global warming. The dark panels would capture that energy and increase Global Warming, and this would militate against any move towards greening the Sahara.

Having them on your roof is already the best idea unless you live in a place with little sunlight.
keeps the house cooler with the solar panels shading the roof during the day, less need for air-conditioning and less power needs too.

The actually relatively small area that is needed to power the whole world with solar just goes to show that it absolutely is possible to stop our reliance on fossil fuels quickly but those in charge just don't want to for monetary reasons -

Video was super entertaining & provided some solid information. The only thing I wish was mentioned was the cost the world is paying for its energy yearly. That would provide a great comparison point to see if plan is truly cost effective

One major problem would be the huge amounts of toxic waste those panels produce over time.
Lead and cadmium are extremely harmful for human and environment so where would all that waste go in africa?

It would only generate electricity during the day, so you would need huge batteries too. The storage and transportation of the energy would be too expensive too, both in cost as well as energy loss

imagine if instead of investing to cover a continent you invested to build directly on houses. same result, more feasibility and effectiveness. intelligence exists but is not known how to use.

Imagine having that magnitude of excessive electricity (MECHANICAL POWER) to work with. It could (somehow) revolutionize space travel. That makes a Trekkie very excited to think about

Right of the bat, I can think of a problem similar to solar panels usage in Mars: dust storms. Sand would need to be constantly cleaned, as the sand would mess up light reception
