All in all, Id estimate that there are over 100, 000, former North Korean nationals now living in China. My friend said that initially the repatriated defectors were executed, which shocked everyone in the area so much that they turned a blind eye to it. After all, we are all just human beings.

Sad but happy North Korean defector story - There is also a North Korean defector who bowed down for a year thinking that the security guard of his apartment was a surveillance police officer. There are also North Korean defectors who wipe the insurance cards displayed at home every day, use shampoo every day, and then display them again in a row in a glass cabinet. One North Korean defector walked to the 8th floor by stairs, thinking that a fee would come out every time he took the elevator. Another person thought that Korean bathhouses were giving out soup for free and asked for soup. Other than this, and so on

My family is from Iran and I often worry about their lack of freedom but really, if you-re middle class and stay out of the govt-s way; it-s not too bad. At least we have our bellies full and opportunity.
This though is just torture. Imagine having a kid in NK - you-re so close to the very successful SK but you will be tortured for your entire life and that-s so so sad.
I wish someone would detail why a revolution wouldn-t work in NK? Is it because the military is so vast? Govt. Is too relentless and cruel? Curious

It-s always said that if they find out you escape they will attack your family but would find it hilarious if they try to attack someone-s family just to find out the person doesn-t even have a family, it-s a win for you cause you can just make a family in your new home. I also like how the South soldiers have a heart and help that one soldier over, I remember when I first read about it and was actually pretty surprised

You can also get in the north korean correctional center and escape because outside the center there are no military or obstacles just freedom, so it is a one way ticket- to freedom if you can endure the torture for a while
