I like the video, really I do, but you're suggesting a 12 Megaton equivalent explosion would cause structure damage 1000 miles away? Based on knowledge of nuclear weapons, that's insane. Cripple the US with a single hydrogen bomb? Impossible. Either the estimate of its power was extremely low, or we gotta recognize that there's a huge difference between how buildings were built then and now. Even most military theorists agree nuclear air bursts over cities wouldn't cause the wild spread fire storms we saw in the past because of the way cities are now made

I kinda think that if this impact happened in London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna or similar, it could have actually been a blessing in disguise. I imagine that given the extent of damages and loss of life, most european countries would be disincouraged to continue to engage in the arms race that led to WW1, besides the fact that the balance of power in Europe would be completely messed up. So I imagine it would be pretty possible for WW1 and WW2 to not have happened in this scenario, saving way more lives than the meteor would have killed

The map of Luxembourg shown to estimate the destruction scale of the Tunguska Asteroid is not of Luxembourg. Luxembourg looks very different. I think it is important that the details are correct. If that is not the case, it undermines the credibility of the whole video.

The remote location of Tunguska may turn out to be a curse, because if it had affected us more we might take asteroids more seriously today. Now that we are overdue for a big one, we would have been better prepared to do something about it earlier.

Strange, I remember hearing that literally no one witnessed the Tunguska event. Like, nobody even noticed it for like 20 years until some expedition happened to stumble upon the area.
Maybe it-s the Mandela effect or something.

I like how RealLifeLore is only using white-centric countries as examples to really dial up that sense of empathy in viewers. Can't be using African or Arabian cities as examples of massive loss of life! It just wouldn't hit the same!

I for one endorse a large asteroid hitting NYC. A lot of America's problems would disappear right along with that cesspool of degeneracy. The only thing that would be better would be a second asteroid hitting LA at the same time.

I wonder what the effects would be if it hit in the middle of the ocean, which is probably more likely, as it covers 70% of the earth-s surface. Yes, it won-t directly impact anyone, but it would create a huge tsunami, right?

Tunguska is 60 N latitude, the same as Leningrad (St Petersburg. Had it come a few hours earlier, it might have hit Leningrad and destroyed it, and altered history greatly because Vladimir Lenin may have been there.

Why not combine the butterfly chicken wing and meteor strike days.
Chaos theory of the meteor and butterfly effect and humans as battery chickens, fattened up and slaughtered in ignorance.

Hitting a city directly is one thing but would be interesting what the effect would be if something like this hit the sea, could this result in a tsunami as bad as 20 years ago in Asia or worse?

Very informative, but you omitted any discussion of the probability of such a large asteroid hitting densely populated areas in 1908 or what would have happened if it had exploded over an ocean.

Awesome to see how he went from speaking about a catastrophic scenario that could wipe out human civilization from our planet, with dozen of milions of deaths, to fried chicken wings!

But it-s not yet proven if the disastrous event was made by a celestial impact. No proven evidences of any celestial objects yet, no crater proofs have been discovered as well.

-In 2013, a space rock that was about 29 meters wide and weighed about 13, 000 tons hit the earth and blew up in the air. .. - Well, which was it? The earth or the air?

Sure it would be really bad if it happens over a metropolitan area. More likely that it would happen over the ocean. Population is very concentrated in small areas

If we can maintain whatever negotiations with the asteroids and meteors to keep hitting the world ocean, siberia, antartica, and the Arctic we'll be fine.

We are such idiots to fight between ourselves with weapons of mass destruction, yet can-t figure out how to destroy an asteroid. What a joke.

you should've explained what it would've been like if the asteroid hit Moscow instead of New York, It would've made more sense if you'd done that

It's frickin terrifying to think of it having hit in a populated area. Or having it happen now in a populated area. It's humbling.

If the Tunguska had hit near moscow or some other large European city, it could have changed the lead up to the First World War.

What if it fell right into an ocean? Would the tsunamis be more devastating than the impact that the meteor has on the ground?
