Why California is Running Out of Water
video description
Our -wet- season is from Oct 1st to April 1st. We get about a third of our water from snowmelt, the rest from reservoirs and the Colorado River aqueduct system.
The state also has plenty of water storage for 20 million people. Problem is, the state has over 40 million. We do have plans for more storage and distribution, but any attempt to increase water storage (reservoirs and damss) gets mired in litigation.

After living in Los Angeles, in finding out that there are a natural hot springs located in Koreatown called the Beverly Hot Springs it-s a natural bacteria free, mineral, rich, water source that comes from under the ground to serve the community someone from the city actually approved plans to demolish it and build an underground parking structure instead it-s terrible and we need to have her voice is heard about our concern over things like this happening because of things like this are approved. It-s only gonna get worse from here.

People shouldn't live in areas where they have to send lobbyists to prevent people from collecting rain water in other states.
Your environment is inhospitable and you are stealing water from other people. This is basically why some people say California is communist scum.
I suggest Utah place a extremely heavy sanction on California's water consumption. Or just tell them tough luck pal, and cut off the major cities, and only allow farms to use the water.

In the LA area, most rainwater is allowed to drain into the ocean. This is idiocy! Clean that water, hold it in basins, an use it for irrigation, fire-fighting, manufacturing, cleanups, etc. The Water authority DOES NOT CARE! We are on the Pacific beach, but the word DISALINATION is never uttered! More than half of ISRAEL is desert, yet Israel has more than enought water, and even sells it to Jordan and Gaza.

Have you addressed the growing population, expansion of cities & heat resources that have caused issues as well as the lack of movement to less fossil reliance. California has the resources yet have failed to manage their resources dur to bad management on a state & local basis. Its been happening for 40yrs but Californians as 1 of the highest eco states a wastrel State. Have another think. Not so Eco

its sad seeing fields go barren because of restrictions, however if you go into the wealthy neighborhoods their lawns are always green and lush. There are thousands of videos online showing how much water is wasted on these lawns and golf courses. meanwhile if you are not part of the elite class your lawn is dead and there are dozens of water restrictions on you.

Ah, you-re here, good. We-ve got a problem, a big one. The controller chip for our water purification system has given up the ghost. Can-t make another one, and the process is too complicated for a work around the system. Simply put, we-re running out of water. No water, no state. This is crucial to our survival. And frankly I- I think you-re the only hope we have.

When needed water train from Louisiana to California. Louisiana gets the most rain of any state. they always want to get rid of some. train tracks already go from Louisiana to California and the cost is about 1 to 2 cents per gallon. the two states could easily share the cost.

I wish you would have touched on the water runoff situation more. The billions of gallons that are allowed to return to the ocean is unbelievable. Unless there is a study that shows actual harm by not allowing it(which I have never seen) its outlandish that it is occurring.

I always thought these water systems were pretty cool. Instead of dumping the water into the sf bay. They just have to cut back agriculture there to what the rivers support. Like only allow less water hungry crops, or outright designate farmland to parks or development

600 trillion gallons of surface water sit in bars and supermarkets permanently trapped. Earth melts ice to compensate. This is the effect. We ar e consuming too much. Digging wells will make it worst for the next generation. And on it goes.

It is curious to me that we do not seem to feel like we will have any trouble finding water on the moon or mars, but we cant seem to find water on a planet where 4/5ths of the surface of the planet is covered by water?

And thankfully for America, and Americans who consume California fruits and vegetables. Nature to the rescue this year! City dwellers consume very little of the total water use.
