How Geography Made The US Ridiculously OP
video description
America, Canada and the UK form a triumvirate of trade, economy, military, production and man power that no single enemy could ever dream of being an actual threat to.
In fact, my masters thesis was on this very subject and I suggested that Canada and America drop their borders and unify into one single country, maintaining their alliance of course with the UK (and Japan, whos alliance with America has jumpstarted its technological revolution) and basically seal the fact that peace among these countries - the UK, the United American States and Canadian Provinces, and Japan - will reign for the foreseeable future, and likely forever.

Of course, if we _did_ go to war with a nation that set up bases on Cuba, we'd reduce them to dust in minutes.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was about _preventing_ a war, so we wisely showed restraint. But if we were already _at war, _ all bets are off.
We'd sink any ship that got anywhere _near_ Cuba. We'd take or destroy that whole island before we let an enemy nation use it to harm us.
Again, all things we almost did in '62 but held back to not escalate the critical and tense situation.
But, to repeat my other point: if we were already at war, we'd do anything and everything to keep Cuba from aiding our enemy.
And I have a hunch the Cubans know this too, and would be reluctant to offer up their own nation as a sacrificial lamb.
To keep bringing up 1962, the country was run by passionate revolutionaries. True believers forged in the fires of rebellion who were 100% behind the global communist revolution.
Today? They're a legitimate power in the Caribbean that has impressively endured despite America's best efforts, and other, more impoverished nations in the region depend on them for aide.
Cuba isn't the hotheaded young rebel anymore, it's a matured adult with a family to support. I'm not saying it's a shining beacon of prosperity and freedom, but it's doing well enough to have something to lose by throwing itself into a war with the US.

Canada will be annexed or purchased by the US eventually. It's inevitable. Western Canada already wants to join the US because it's easier to export their resources through America and are thus dependent on the US economically and have closer cultural ties with Western US states than Eastern Canada (Albertans are closer to Montanans than to Torontonians. Eastern Canada holds most of Canada's political power in their big cities but it is heavily dependent on America's upkeep of the Great Lakes Canal infrastructure for global trade. The US would become much richer and more fortified with Canadian integration as would all of Canada. Whenever the US wants it, it could have it but because Canada is still formally a part of the British Crown (they still pay taxes to London whether they admit it or not, they'd have to essentially buy it from Great Britain. Eventually, the US will want Canada more than an alliance with Great Britain.

The greatest war against the united states occurs in the back office rooms in Bentonville Arkansas where Walmart forces suppliers to outsource manufacturing to places like china. The real consequence of this is 1) we lose manufacturing capacity and the stability a working society provides. And 2) the power and purchasing strength of the federal reserve is undermined by the relationship of going into a negative trade balance with a Foreign country. When we manufacture items and we sell things to other countries our standard of living gets better. Walmarts attitude toward our country is more destructive than a nuclear war.

Right off the bat, this video is BS. The U. S. was destined to be the dominant world superpower simply because of geography and geology? Regardless of the people? Ridiculous!
Oil was just a scummy pollutant that fouled otherwise drinkable water until our (meaning Anglo-Europen) inventors produced the technology to refine and utilize it.
Argentina had a temperate climate and many of the same resources found in the U. S.
I could go on, but this another example of Lore rambling on with endless factoids and historic details without any true insight.

Overall great video, but RLL can be rather myopic; we know that not just any people or ideology would have become a superpower, as the American Indians had thousands of years to create a society that could both control and exploit the Mississippi to its fullest potential. Societal organization and ideology matter a great deal, and geography, while incredibly important, is nowhere near deterministic.

Your initial premise is wrong, if the geography of North America guaranteed civilizational successes regardless of ideology or culture then the American Indians would have already had an advanced civilization by the time European settlers arrived. They did not, until the arrival of Europeans in North America the natives we naught but a bunch of warring tribes. I suggest a reading of Thomas Sowle

Minimizing the impact of a free market economy on the prosperity of the United States and instead implying it's all just a case of a lucky draw in geography is unfounded.
There were over a thousand years of native civilizations (i. e. Cahokian, as well as generations of French and Spanish colonial rule over these regions, yet no one made of the opportunities what the USA did.

Not covered here is the United States' interstate highway system, rail networks, the mountain systems in both the east and west create yet another natural land barrier, the numerous different climate areas and the fact that U. S. citizens happen to privately own something like 2 firearms on average.
Good luck.

Ha ha. As soon as I saw the title, before even starting the video, I thought: The Louisiana Purchase. LOL.
Great video. It truly is amazing, and humbling, that out of all the billions of humans on planet earth, we control what happens to all of them. That pretty shocking.

19: 39 correction. The US didn-t actually invade Mexico. The Mexicans in those areas wanted to form their own country separate from the Mexican government authority. The US added them and eventually those liberated Mexican states joined the Union.

As long as we don't allow ourselves to be conquered from within, our future potential is limitless. The recent coup d'etat in 2020 should be a massive wake up call to ALL Americans. Let us not going quietly into the night.

Just a small correction, the Mississippi river is not the longest navigable river in the world, that would be the Amazon river. But the Mississippi is still massive.
