Why Yemen is Dying & Oman is Booming
video description
1- This might sound a bit odd and random, but I have actually dreamt of Zeus mating with a palm tree and begetting an ant that is capable of crawling on the edge of the Higgs Boson!
2- I also dreamt of my mitochondria protesting to break free from my organelles, claiming that nature has enslaved them!
3- On another night of a full moon, I dreamt of Professor Noam Chomsky eating books and regurgitating the field of Modern Linguistics!
4- The funniest dream I ever had, was when I had a vision of a Neanderthal swallowing a whole apple, and it played ping-pong with his heart while passing down his esophagus!
5- This is by no means a joke, but the most disgusting dream I ever had, was of a female's menstruation blood turning into jelly and being marketed by an Oompa Loompa as Halloween treats!
6- I also had a nightmare of riding on a mare at night, with the Pharaoh's personal witch, she was pregnant with a fetus that was eating her placenta!
Do you think my dreams have any philosophical implications at all
I'm just a little concerned that I'm having a neurological malfunction!
Given that I've heard my neurons conspiring to abandon the dwelling of my skull, things don't seem to be heading in the right direction, ever since!

Please, please, oh for the sake of clarity, and my poor old waning eye sight, make your text font size slightly larger. I so love your programs, but become thoroughly frustrated by not being able to read your small charts which so distracts from both the engagement and the learning. I so want to get the full benefit from the effort you put into these vids, but in the instance of some texts sizes, it becomes completely fruitless and often times even sadly aggravating (especially when a charts you did will help really clarify the issue and I am just bleeding out the sides of my eyeballs squinting so hard to try to read the text. which I just cant seem to do. and then I'm pissed and covered in eye blood; -)
Remember, many of us are on phones and thus can't see the very small text. However, nearly every time, on all your vids, you have enough space to make the font sizes slightly larger without blocking the rest of the primary focus of the picture being displayed. So, please, please, I keep, and will continue to keep asking you to please, for the sake of all that is decent and good in humanity, please increase your font size.

The country where I was born and still cherish my childhood memories with my sister to this day even while being an Indian studying in an Indian school was the happiest time in our family. Even my relatives had their childhood there and we all enjoyed it thoroughly. Most of money you earned will be your and there was no tax. There where a few problems of immigrants which mostly referred to the sponsorship or arbab which was mandatory for setting up you buisness and there were high chances of your business being taken up by the sponsor if you did not obey which was asking absurd amounts of money or fee to run your business. The labour class was treated unfairly and were given very poor salaries and there passports and visas were usually kept by the owner. This was very common throughout the late 90s but has gradually reduced and almost non-existent since as far as I know.
The country aslo has free healthcare and education right upto PhD level and all you need is your attendance. The best part is they get paid to attend school college. The government also sends their students abroad all education expenses paid.

I haven't watched the video yet, but I know a few of the reasons:
1. Oman sits at the southern coast of a pretty important ocean passageway: the titular Gulf of Oman, which is where ships from the Arabian peninsula transfer from the Persian Gulf into the Indian Ocean (edit: forgot that they control the southern point on the Strait of Hormuz as well. A stable Oman is more important to the global economy, and the economies of the Gulf states, than a stable Yemen.
2. Yemen has always beenand remainsa very tribal society in which the central government has historically taken a more hands-off approach to allow local laws and customs to prevail over the rule of law. Oman _used_ to be like this until the 50-year reign of Sultan Said bin Taimur, who took the Arabian backwater he inherited from his deeply disturbed father and turned it into a modernized state, complete with roads, hospitals, a high literacy rate, etc. Oman is highly centralized; Yemen is not, and never has been.
There are many others, which I'm guessing the video delves into, but those are the ones I could think of off the top of my head.

Just a reminder that GDP per capita is an average number, not the salary for everyone. It is made by taking the GDP of the entire country and dividing it by the population and adjusting for inflation. Think about the amount of billionaires there are in America vs the amount of people living paycheck to paycheck and relying on their minimum wage job and government subsidies to stay alive. All of that averages out to about $76, 329. 6 per person. Yemen on the other hand is a paltry $650. 3 per person. Meaning there are people who have twice that (which even then is only $1, 300. 6 still barely any money) and there could be people with way less of that. Also this is per year income, imagine living off of $2 per day for an entire year.

One of these countries bent their will to a bigger nation in exchange for benefits like not being harassed by American cia. The other tried to be free. And got hit with the deep state shuffle.
Just look at South America. 80% of South America, Africa and Asia are like that because of American imperialism and CIA bs.
THEY EVEN GOT AUSTRALIA AND THEY ARE A EUROPEAN NATION. It’s proof that either you bend to the will of an imperialist nation or you become a puppet for their financial sector.
Why did you think the French are so pissed off at African colonies for refusing to pay the imperialist tax and evicting French countries

Wow, it's almost as if, making the country a better place brings wealth and prosperity, while being a belligerent tyrant and making everyone unhappy brings poverty and conflict. Who would have guessed The leaders don't even need to be altruistic or even good people at all either. You can be nearly absolute in power and still build a prosperous nation. You can do pretty much whatever you want and give yourself as much wealth as you'd ever need. The only thing you need to not do, is get off on dominating the populous. All you have to do is allow them to live their lives and provide enough resources for them to get by.

I have lived in Oman my entire life. Originally I am Indian. I live in the UAE now (moved here from Oman 1 year ago. Compared to the other GCC countries, Oman is still very slow and calm whereas other GCC countries like Qatar and UAE are miles ahead but still the peace and hospitality you will find in Oman is something you just cannot find in other GCC countries. His Majesty Sultan Qaboos was a legendary man. Under his reign, Oman boomed SO MUCH and he played a very important role in maintaining not just peace within the GCC but around the world.

I am from Saudi Arabia. Historically, the Hijaz mountain range, which begins in Saudi Arabia a little south of Mecca and ends in the Arabian Seais known as historical Yemen (Yemen is a synonym for the word South in Arabic). The people in this region share similar origins, culture, customs and traditions. It is crazy to think how much the impact of being lucky to be born in A few kilometers north of the border, on your life and the life of your family

Thank you so much for this video. It gave me a perspective into what we all see as useless politicians. But it seems that they aren't as useless as i thought, because who's in charge is the big difference between Yemen and Oman. At least that's what it seems like to me. Am i seeing this wrong Am i delusional
Edit: There's a population discrepancy that might account for some of the differences.

I can see some errors here.
Narrator: the communists managed to push out the British from Aden.
Reality: The British announced they were going to leave. This triggered a rebellion against the British by two different groups both trying to prove they were the strongest.
This is the second video I’ve watched by this guy where he clearly hasn’t done the homework necessary. Sad.

I like how he uses the sponsor to describe the left vs right leaning political bias, but not even two minutes earlier did he comment about the houthis sending anti ship missiles at commercial, non military vessels. Seems that one of the news sources was a little more accurate than the other

I’m Yemeni born and raised. My family was with the government and went through four wars and a revolution in their lifetime. The amount of accurate information presented in this video is astonishing. I can’t believe a non-Yemeni could know this much. Well done!

Goes to show you, those imaginary lines we call borders are extremely important. We've known that for a long time but there's a renaissance of idiocy going on today with flat Earth and borders aren't real clusters of people who are literal living regression

There are perhaps no other two other bordering countries in the entire world today, who experience such raaadically different realities today in the 21st century
Bro forgot about North and South Korea while writing the superlatives ridden script.

Yemen has been under attack for some years now. War was waged against it by America, Saudi Arabia and the U. A. E. How could it develop itself. Bu, I have a feeling this will change soon. It is changing for Afghanistan, it will change for Yemen also.

Just drives home the feeling that mountainous cultures derive theocracy in isolation. Costal cities support multiculturalism and, because of that they are much more accepting of others and cause much less conflict in a united and global economy.

Iran.
Iranian military support to the Houthis began as early as 2009, amid the Houthis' first war against Yemen's government. Most experts agree that the Houthis were receiving weapons from Iran by 2014, the year they captured Sanaa.

I feel that not talking about the Saudi led and US backed blockade against Yemen that contributed to the famine there was a significant oversight. The majority of deaths in the Yemeni Civil War have been due to lack of aid.
