Learn how to setup Hey Siri! on your desktop or laptop Apple computers so that you can have a virtual assistant that's voice activated. This should work with older Macs as long as they are capable of running macOS Mojave. If you find it works with older macOS versions, please tell me about it in the comments below

My 2018 Mac Mini Accessibility does not have -Dictation- . It has -Voice Control-. I can get Siri to respond with -Hey Siri-, but I have to have Voice Control on, which is a pain when it starts to inject dictation into things just because I'm on the phone or speaking with someone.
Any fix for this situation? I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

I watched your video I went step by step but when I go to accessibility there is no dictation under the audio. So in that case what do I do then if I don't have it? Siri worked at one time then I guess when the computer updated it quit working. Can you help me, please? Thank you

That helped me a lot! and You know Siri can listen to the music and tell you the name now. I have a mac mini as home server just next to my TV and everytime a nice song plays on TV I just ask siri to listen it, super cool- .

Hi, a great instruction video! Very clear. But for me it doesn't work because I am running Big Sur and the 'Dictation' option in Accessibility is missing. It is just not there.
Is there a workaround for it?

reply

Because of the missing 'Dictation- option, I used voice control instead. It works but now I have this annoying microphone icon floating around on my desktop. I can't figure out how to get rid of this thing.

I have macOS Big Sur and there is no dictation menu in Accessibility and I have created my own way to activate it. But I used this trick on macOS Mojave and it worked! Thank You!

Thanks for the tutorial, but the Siri option doesn't exist on my System Preferences. I use El Capitan. Is this utility for newer O.S. maybe?
