Learn how to show trends in Excel by using Excel charts and a couple of functions: trend and growth. You'll also learn how to create a forecast of what could happen in the future based upon the past and current trend of your data

Exponential equations are of the form y = ae-bx while linear equations are of the form y = mx + b.
Exponential trends are useful when the data starts to dramatically increase or decrease as x values grow larger. It's hard to use in this case because the graph itself is not following an approximately exponential pattern. If you use a graph with a more exponential pattern in your example, the trend will look a lot less linear.

thank you so much for your clear explanation! it helps greatly! just a tiny suggestion though: could you please arrange the playlist according to the sequence in which it is best for somebody to learn (sometimes it's confusing that it jumps from one topic/aspect to another). thank you!

Hi, thank you for such a wonderful tutorials on charts and trends, I tried to click on the sample excel sheet before and after, but it doesn't seems to download anymore. I wonder if you could still upload the file. Otherwise, its okay.

Doing what you did in the last example, you will turning the exponencial in to a linear -function-, so you can do it when it-s a linear function (what makes sense) but not with an exponencial function.

MacBook users to add a trendline: Press control and click a point on the graph displayed. Your videos are great, quick, and easy to understand. Thanks for taking the time to make them.

I think this way of trend forecast is not correct. Look at the graph. Gray line is not smooth at aruond Dec-18. ( 11:55 )
but i don't know how can I fix it.
thanks anyway!

I despise trend and growth charts as they -assume- things....we all know what assume does.
But I love your videos!! Thank you for all you do! Jim.

Thank you so much for your effort. I'm afraid, 10:10 when I click on the right mouse I don't get the COPY VALUE ONLY, rather the regular set.
