How do you know youre real? Is existence all just a big dream? Has some mad scientist duped us into simply believing that we exist? James Zucker investigates all of these questions (and more) in this mind-boggling tribute to Ren Descartess Meditations on First Philosophy. Lesson by James Zucker

I think that it is not that you must prove that you can trust your senses but rather that you should trust your senses until proven otherwise. AKA, sane until proven insane. Being insane is always a possibility, but becoming trapped in that possibility prevents us from fully exploring the possibility that we are sane. And if we are insane? Then focusing on the possibility of being sane doesn't matter anyway. And if we are sane? Then we would be wasting our lives by focusing on the possibility that we are insane.

Well why does that matter? Unless I knew for a fact wether this was real or not, I'm still going to act, and think as I do now. The notion that life may be a simulation, or a dream, or the memories of a dying man doesn't bother me one bit, because to me this is real, and the consequences of my actions affect me now, so there's no reason to be different. It's not a question that should bring on an existential crisis.

Multiple times I wondered what is the world really like because we perceive the world with our senses but there are this we can't see like radio or sound waves and can't hear certain frequencys, so is the world really how we think ot it's something completely beyond our understanding.

Sometimes I'd have a dream and wake up, but waking up was still just dreaming, and I'd realize that and try to wake up, but I couldn't. It's like trying to race to the finish line but the floor is grease, so no matter how hard you try, you have no control.

Once during a dream I was convinced chickens swallowed eggs with their butts and laid them by coughing them out, in the dream, there was no convincing me otherwise, that was one of the rules of the world, like 1+1=2. . creepy

Decarte was wrong about existing though, wasnt he? He had removed logic as an assumption but then used logic to say that if he thinks he must be real, why assume that you need to exist to think if you cant prove 2+2=4?
reply

I don't know honestly, and I don't need to. I just am. I might be not real, or as real as you are, and I don't give a damn. I spent most of my life questioning that until it doesn't seem to matter anymore.

We will be getting answers to all these questions and will discover all the secrets of universe and life, if and only if we learn to use our brain by 100%

man idk why i searched this. although this video is interesting, I feel sick to my stomach thinking about existence because some things you cannot answer.

Is reality characterized by tiers? One reality existing over another? Like flatlanders not having a whole dimension above them.
