Well it's easier to be rich when you have slaves digging the gold up for you. Just Imagin how rich Bill Gates would have been if he never had to pay his employees. Ca. 150. 000 employees times 120. 000 dollars (ca. average pay, that's a savings of 18 billion pr. year. And that isn't even calculation the resale value of 150. 000 people into it.
Jeff Bezos would be even more happy to have forced labor, he is already pushing it there.

Mansa was not a happy man. The desert sands, the exotic diseases, the buildings built of mud, eating fufu. He wouldn''t know what a car, train, ship, submarine or rocket was. but he took the country's gold mine and kept the gold for himself, much admired by American Blacks. His inheritance is Malians drowning in the Mediterranean trying to reach Europe to escape dire poverty

this is incomplete story. he was also repsonsible for later adversity in his rule. an d whats why peopel of mali hate him. today no on in africa or mail is proud of him. he is called kanka mausa nd he is called taboo for his civilization.
another story in the name of islam spoiling his subjects.

Musa: Ahp ahp ahp. you base his wealth on the American dollar, which is worth less than Monopoly money. I need to speak with your manager.

reply

Amazing! He left a wonderful legacy. Mali. It's the country with the highest number of people drowning in trying to reach Europe because of abject poverty
reply

doesn't seem to mention the part on how much money he made through slavery and how thousands of those in the caravan traveling to mecca were slaves.
reply

A pity our refuguees don't bring this fortune with them when they come to Europe today. Then they could support themselves instead.
