Is a universal translator possible in real life? We already have many programs that claim to be able to take a word, sentence, or entire book in one language and translate it into almost any other. The reality, however, is a bit more complicated. Ioannis Papachimonas shows how these machine translators work, and explains why they often get a bit mixed up. Lesson by Ioannis Papachimonas

I wrote on google 'kohya' in my language its kind of condensed milk but more dense and hard like cheese, google translate it, 'Lost' another meaning of 'kohya' so I write milk in my language so it may guess it but it translated it as 'lost from milk' we laugh so hard

One more reason to concentrate on only one universal language: preferably English. It's pretty simple, easy to learn and already widely spread. I am German, by the way, but I'd gladly give up my birth language, if it led to a global understanding.

This video explains perfectly why most programs today should be used for simple sentences at a time. Or at the very least, why using them alone when conversing or learning a new language isnt recommend.

Ok well answer me this. If a universal translator translates between any language, in sci fi whene ever a translator is used, why do the aliens mouths appear to be speaking English too?

If you believe god,
then even your god can't translate from one language to another language erfectly.
No language can be translated completely with same ironical meaning.
