Teflon was in the spacesuits the Apollo crew wore for the moon landing, in pipes and valves used in the Manhattan project, and it may be in your kitchen, as the nonstick coating on frying pans and cookie sheets. So what is this slippery solid and why doesnt anything stick to it? Ashwini Bharathula describes the science behind Teflon. Lesson by Ashwini Bharathula

Nice video as always but why the heck is Albert Einstein put in the Manhattan project example when he was NOT part of it?
These are images that participate to the collective unconsciousness that he was the father of the atomic bomb - an idea that the Time magazine helped widespread - while he actually protested harshly AGAINST it!
Btw, I am not so sure that Teflon is harmless for the body but that's another debate.

Non-stick pan that is coated with Teflon is great, untill the Chinese copycat it and sell it worldwide
(No seriously though, few years ago, Ive bought a pan thats suppose to be non-stick, so I tried fried egg with it, and the egg stick to the pan, damn advertisement)

reply

Teflon is safe to shallow because it can't interact with other molecule.
That is not a strong argument
DDT is also not good in interact with other molecule so it is accumulated inside the body
DDT is finally banned

Watch dark waters. The trade secrets are illustrated in depth and the story essentially follows the destruction of a rural town in Ohio as a result of DuPont carelessly manufacturing Teflon

Is it true that Gotti got off because he bribed and intimidated jurors?
He had a very good lawyer, and once a judge ruled that he couldn't use that lawyer, Gotti was convicted.

reply

Small question, if the teflon disintegrates at 500 degress Fahrenheit, then why do they bake the pan at 800 degrees Fahrenheit during production?

Peeps go watch Dark Waters (produced by Mark Ruffalo - he also acts in it. It's basically about how this ruined peeps lives and is killing us.
reply

Its exact composition is a trade secret guarded by each manufacturer.
Now we just need open source teflon attaching method.
