I have laid out an elaborate plan if I would ever win the lottery.
Right now I am really really really in financial limbo, thanks to educational debt.
If I would win right now, I would take care of that first and might start going to school again so I can study whatever I want versus Study what I am kinda interested in but also am able to earn money with.
If I would win later on, I would want to lay low and keep working as long as I want, while using the money to invest. Maybe even use the money to start my own company, even if I fail I would have enough assets in other companies that I could live off from.
I would try to have part of the money for investment, a bit for charity of my choosing and the rest I would divide with my left time on earth. So if it was about 50 years left I would limit myself to use only 1/50 of the money per year.
I would try to not let anyone know about it, but of course be open for friends who might need help. It should just seem like a landed that very very well paying job and that I invested some of my money. Not that I am rich just that I earn a good amount of money.
Money changes people, especially those around you.
I hope I dont change alot and that people dont see money when they see me.
Though I will probably never win any amount of money in the lottery. I am a person with ALOT of bad luck, one reason I got problems getting out of debt, because anytime I got some money saved which could go towards debt payment, something I have no control of happens. Car breaking down, losing job, paying alot of taxes instead of getting a return, something else breaking down I need or just a sudden increase in gas prices, which I have to pay, because I need to get to work by car.

Ppl saying they rather be sad in big house or on a vacation rather than sad with loans. yeah i relate but its more than that
Money is a tool to face difficulties more than a tool to be happy
If i have money i can pay for good care for my sick mom, i can put roof on our heads i can pay for transportation for education to get a job
Yeah i might not be happier than someone homeless
But our struggles are different
Its like giving someone 3 colors and other 1 and tell them to make the best painting
Sure 3 colors make huge diff and sure 1 color still can make better one but the 3 colors is an extra tool to make it better its one factor that i got on my side

lasting happiness has prerequisites. you gotta be confident with where you are, engaged with the things you are doing, and have a sense of meaning, and only then can you derive joy from stuff like winning the lottery.
the biggest misconception is that it's just from material things. it can be from any goal or achievement - it could be a yacht, it could be writing a book, or it could be winning an oscar after a shattered career (props to you if you get the reference. if you're unable to use those things to fulfill the prereqs to happiness, the temporary joy will just wear off.

Its the same feeling as getting the first pay check of your first job or after your salary increment. atfirst the feeling will be great and like never before but after few months u kinda take it for granted and gradually the excitement fades out so much so that at one point even though ur expenses hasnt increased, you still find discontentment in your salary.

I dont want a new car or bigger house but I do want to travel and try new things. Id also like to start a charity. So, I guess I would be happier if I won the lottery. And money doesnt make people mean but it might unmask bad people.

If i got a million dollars I'll invest them in the index fund and live off the dividend alone. Maybe do some tax tricks to not pay tax for the dividend lol as now im rich enough to pay crooked accountants.

I have questions
Is all our happiness or mood baselines are the same? Can we raise that baseline or can unfortunately individuals with other factors face lower baseline?
