I have bipolar, but I dealt with it with support from my health habits and family but mostly what I did was more personal. I taught myself to only care for my soul and my will, not getting affected by emotions, feelings, and effort through breathing meditation. It felt like I was a soul wandering through space with no worries. It felt great. I simply did manual breathing whilst being empty from reality and sitting comfortably with no effort and feeling. The breathing excercise was to make me know that my will is the only thing I could control, others are just experiences that I coudn't control so I should simply regard them as empty and no need for importance in my head. Examples of things I coudn't control are the natural feelings of sight and touch, effort from carrying heavy things, and worries about the past or future. They have little to no importance to me because I know that the only thing I could control in this universe is my will. That's the effect of breathing meditation in a state of emptiness. To do this: Sit comfortably until you feel nothing and worry about nothing, then manually breathe and focus on the breath, that's it.

Phycology is such an interesting thing. To think that a mental illness that can so destructive to the sufferer can also be treated and controlled by taking medications, seeking help through a therapist and making healthy life choices. Sure, its easier said than done but there is something that can be done about it. Ive known a few people who have bipolar disorder and once theyd recognized the root of their struggle and dedicated themselves to treatment their life made a complete 180. One person I know during a manic phase, booked a plane ticket to Europe with no reason or plan and when she got their she was robbed of the rest of the money she had. Now she owns her own apartment, shes working on paying off her debt and she has a job she loves doing. I think the biggest change is that shes genuinely happy now, and not just happy because shes in a manic phase.

This was really interesting but what impressed me the most was the art of those visuals here on top of the narration and the music. These fluent transitions, the depictions that are weirdly comprehensive to understand what the concepts explained. Incredibly impressed by Uncle Ginger and Hugh Cowling there wow! Narration by Addison Anderson was also smooth as heckies, love the voice timbre to address this topic. Not strict and deep not high and flighty. Just about right with a dash of sensitivity to it. Idk what just happened but I think Ive watched this like I watch an artwork somewhere in between suddenly lol. (I ended up here watching motion graphics so that couldve also factored things in woops)

I didn't quite knew what bipolar was but knew I kinda have it
While thinking this video just came r8 to me
And I do have it
It's actually my fault
Coz from the start of 2020 I started binging YouTube food
Bad routine no study
And I have signs of paranoia too
But I noticed all these just a while ago
Now I really need to stop procrastinating or else it might get extreme but I am too scared too even try
Let me just decide whether I am afraid after doing it and last year l had depression
It's crazy but needs to be treated

Disappointingly typical. Typical definition of psychosis, typical emphasis on dopamine hypothesis, typical electro conclusive therapy review, typical de-emphasis on social & environmental causes, typical emphasis on careful treatment that minimizes treatment induced harm: Im disappointed. I thought TED talks were supposed to be open-minded, cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary, with deep questions and nuanced answers. This is a mass-produced status quo only relevant for mass consumption.

When you are weak inside you won't get it even if you opt yourself for society rules culture etc you paint yourself in their colour. But when you are strong inside still you try to make a virtual mind which works according to the society, rules, way the things should go and all, But the strong real mind one day pop up causing in bipolar disorder. its kind of a eagle and hen egg story Shiv Khera mentioned in his book.

This is fraud! Nothing more! There is ZERO evidence to support any of these causes. Not one test has been developed to show any abnormality in the brain. Thank god for honest psychiatrats like peter breginn to let us in on their psudo-sceince. P. s. i was diagnosed with bipolar, dont have a problem with that but the meds did more damage than when i before treatment

This is total nonsense. You just have to talk to your parents about the problem you are facing. Don't watch videos like this. Talking will help a lot and I mean by that just talk, and be social. Don't just be in yourself or self diagnose and don't be a google doctor. I didn't expect this nonsense from TED.

People can use the term 'bipolar' just like they say they feel a bit 'OCD' about something. Let's encourage these words only to be used if someone has been diagnosed by a doctor and is living with it, rather than using it as an adjective if they don't actually experience it: )
