When radium was first discovered, its luminous green color inspired people to add it into beauty products and jewelry. It wasnt until much later that we realized that radiums harmful effects outweighed its visual benefits. Unfortunately, radium isnt the only pigment that historically seemed harmless or useful but turned out to be deadly. J. V. Maranto details historys deadliest colors. Lesson by J. V. Maranto

Yet the US spread tons of the orange agents throughout Vietnam during the Vietnam war and never admitted this, never apologized to us, and never compensated for the deaths and fatal consequences they brought about to Vietnamese people. Today there are thousands of handicapped people and cancer patients in Vietnam who were the indirect victims of the orange agents, they are the descendants of soldiers that fought in the war. We will never forget and will never stop raising our voice about this till apologies are made and proper actions are taken.

prune hazardous colors out of our lives - well, not totally. A number of organic pigments also proved to be toxic --> carcinogens, e. g, relatives of aniline. A number of cases of toxic spills of such compounds, into rivers, are known, e. g, from India.
