Every star, black hole, human being, smartphone and atom are all constantly pulling on each other due to one force: gravity. So why dont we feel pulled in billions of different directions? And is there anywhere in the universe where we'd be free of its pull? Rene Laufer details the inescapability of gravity. Lesson by Rene Laufer, directed by TED-Ed

Question: in regards to the statement you could never escape earths gravity completely. since reality is quantized, with a plank length being the smallest movement possible, wouldn't you eventually get so far from earth the force is less than what would be needed to pull a neutral particle even a plank, effectively making the force of gravity at that distance 0?

So that means that even if there were only two grains of sand in the universe, and they were both on opposite edges of the observable universe - it would take an incredibly long amount of time - but eventually, they would meet and collide thanks to gravity?
reply

Wouldn't there be a point where the gravitational force of earth is in the realm of vacuum energy? And further out in the planck-scale? Which would make it basically non-existent. That would mean there is an end to gravity and it's not infinite.

I have a doubt of gigantic celestial bodies are attracting each other why dont they ever collide? Why just stay a certain distance apart?

So what if an astronaut accidentally jumped of the space station (just imagine dont ask) would he be pulled back to earth?
reply

Was Isaac Newton the first person to discover gravity or it is was discovered earlier, maybe by the Greeks (maybe Aristotle?
reply

I'm in high school right now.
Oh how I wish Newton had been sitting under a jackfruit tree instead of an apple tree.
