Lovecraft's prejudice nature was what made him so good at writing fantasy and horror. The man hated Blacks, Jews, white Southerners, Catholics, and pretty much everyone else who was outside of the New England Aristocracy.
Imagine living like, imagine being so fearful of everything and everyone around you, his Characters may as well have been real in his own life.
That's why he is one of the greatest fiction writers of all time.
It was also an inspiration to Tolkien.

I'm just in love with his eloquent style of writing! From the moment I read his works at 12, I wanted to dedicate myself to Lovecraftian Horror. 8 years later, my translations of his works were published and my stories, inspired from his works, were also included in literary journals. Even my bday is the same as his. I sometimes even feel I was wrongly born in this era! THIS MAN.

I think it's important to note that Lovecrafts rascism was largely born out of 1): Simply living in the time he did and 2): An extremely sheltered upbringing, as well as numerous possible mental illnesses; like OCD, paranoia etc.
IIRC he also ended realizing the error of this thinking, towards the later years of his life as he experienced more of the world

Lovecraft became much less xenophobic towards the end of his life as he his political leanings shifted left, but yeah redoubtably his xenophobia fueled his work.
