I'm thinking more along the line of sending micro-molecular robots into the brain cells and have them mapped and send back the structures, connections and characteristics of each neuron rather than the imaging approach you mentioned. Those microbots could be deployed in the billions just like drug molecules and could reach the farthest end of the brain's neural network. The microbots would very much work like injecting dyes into the arteries and visualising them on the CAT Scan, except that it would output much more complicated data. A much more difficult aspect of this is the transfer of the conscious self of the person being scanned. It would requires that those microbots sends signal of each physical location of the brain to some sort of cell printer and have the electrical signal from each node of the neuron instataneously sent over to the newly created cell. This video seems to only deal with the dimension of copying existing brains into data-driven storage rather than the maintenance of the actual person which is more of what people are looking to accomplish---to achieve immortality

1 - Fully understand the brain and Invent the technology to read and save a connectome.
2 - Develop a synthetic brain that work similar to organic brain.
3 - Develop a synthetic body that exactly simulate the organic body with a synthetic endocrine system.
4 - Awaken yourself that just magically wake up in a new body while you were still on the step 1 and succesfully save connectome. at least thats what he (you) think.
5 - Realize you successfully transferred your consciousness and failed at the same time.
The lucky guy in new body is actual you and very thankful to failed you. But failed you is also actual you.
6 - Realize you will always be the failed one and just keep creating lucky yourselves by this method.

If we could upload our mind it doesnt mean you as the person who is being uploaded would be put into let's say. minecraft. Actually if anything I feel like this would create cloning instead of putting ourselves in a new world, and if that's the case we could literally upload our minds and have the cloned mind do all the work for us Although now that I think about it. that could of already happened to me.
Am I a clone that was uploaded from my original mind?

Evolution has to be natural, not artificial. Our bodies and our thinking level has evolved but our brain structure is still the same. and this artificial thing Neuralink will damage the brain and it wont lead to evolution. Brain is natural not artificial and mixing something natural with artificial will lead to dangerous results only. If evolution will occur, it will be occur naturally. Not by artificial things. It will be the doom of humanity.

If you copy a person's mind and upload it into a virtual world it is still not that person, but a copy of them. Their consciousness would still be in their body. Its like if you copy a word doc and then email it to someone, the original is still there on your PC not affected by changes made to the copy that you emailed.
I HIGHLY DOUBT we will ever be able to transfer our consciousness itself, at least in our lifetime.

Let me ask you this. If you follow this same procedure to upload the soul of a book, what is the result? Does it really matter how detailed you get with your instruments of observation? Or is the soul of the book something intangible existing beyond the material of the pages and the chemical makeup of the ink?

In the future when this is possible, would our consciousness actually enter the computer? Or would it be more like a digital copy and paste of the mind creating a new version of you in the computer? From the video it seems like the latter.

I feel like the only way you could put someones mind in a computer is if theyd have a first person recording from 1 year after birth to old age and then create an artificial stimuli that would only have access to only that knowledge.

Except even if we could get to this point its not as if when we die we would just eventually wake up in a simulation, our brain would still be dead, it would just be a copy of our minds.

This is completely ignoring the fact of the AI singularity. So you cant just say uploading our minds is 100s of years away because thats just not true as AI is improving.
