By 2050, its estimated that over 65% of the world will be living in cities. We may think of nature as being unconnected to our urban spaces, but trees have always been an essential part of successful cities. Humanity has been uncovering these arboreal benefits since the creation of our first cities thousands of years ago. So what makes trees so important to a citys survival? Stefan Al explains. i'm finding this out in real life as the city i live in has been considered the greenest in korea.
but recently city has been replacing trees in the city boulevards and main roadways with large parasols that can be opened and closed with a little winch mechanism.
already i can tell it's not a good thing as over 50 large trees within 100yard radius from my home have been replaced with either a parasol or smaller trees; it's summer.
my neighborhood used to have many 50200 year old trees all over roadsides. now none.
all this was done as building owners have complained and sued against city for their buildings not having a view.
as time passes, it seems people are becoming more self-centered and narrow minded.

0: 50 bodhi trees are sacred there, and Siddhartha Gautama himself was said to asended to Buddha under one of such trees, but particularly, the one tree in India. The sentence in the speech from 0: 50 is kind of nuanced that it might make audience mistake that Buddha actually ascended at this particular tree in Anuradhapura: )
Apart from that, very well done educational video: )

2: 33 If trees hadnt been cut down so much in NY air conditioning wouldve likely not been invented. The first modern air conditioner was invented in 1902 by Willis Haviland Carrier, a skilled engineer who began experimenting with the laws of humidity control to solve an application problem at a printing plant in Brooklyn, NY.

Tree in Sri Lanka grew from a branch taken from the bodhi tree in Bodh gaya India where lord buddha attained enlightenment. Tree in india has died, but a new tree propagated from the Sri Maha Bodhi now stands in its place.

Could someone explain this sentence in this video to me city planners can lay an eco-friendly foundation. I've replayed this video a couple of times but still failed in the effort. I really appreciate that, I'm from Vietnam

This video is great! I wonder though about when the author talks about Savannah, GA I am pretty sure he is only talking about how the city planners only put the trees in the white neighborhoods. Thoughts?

But, yet we continue to decimate the rainforests at an astoundingly alarming rate, which makes me think that we humans don't deserve this planet.
