Every year, the world uses 35 billion barrels of oil. This massive scale of fossil fuel dependence pollutes the earth, and it wont last forever. On the other hand, we have abundant sun, water and wind, which are all renewable energy sources. So why dont we exchange our fossil fuel dependence for an existence based only on renewables? Federico Rosei and Renzo Rosei describe the challenges. Lesson by Federico Rosei and Renzo Rosei, directed by Giulia Martinelli

This Ted presentation needs urgently updating it is misleading as it currently stands. Solar, wind, marine plus different forms of storage available can power the world now. The main problems faced (by far) include the criminal fossil fuel corporations and their lobbyists, criminal politicians and other self interested and conflicted parties mostly belonging to transnational corporations. and of course the world's oligarchs. It's becoming increasingly urgent all people face up to their governments (all citizens of the earth especially in the western style countries which today include large parts of China similarly India and Brazil. The other major problem to change is the form of economic system used world wide operating in the OECD, and other countries with IMF and IBRD loans and facilities, and operating the BIS Central Banking system; the commercial banks will required to adopt best practice properly sustainable asset, liability and nature centred policies.

We could use 100% renewable if we all decided to live like we did 200 years ago. Without computers, without refrigerators, without air conditioning, without many life sustaining medical devices, and so on. Convincing the world that 75% of the people should just die off due to lack of resources would be, I feel, a very tough sell.
Let me extend an olive branch. The video is correct, burning fossil fuels pollutes the planet (it does not cause climate change) and it is finite. The answer lies in using nuclear power for electricity and hydrogen to propel our vehicles.
Wind and solar power is a unicorn fantasy.

The info may be out of date we are not going to run out of oil, fossil fuels, or coal anytime soon. Not within the next several hundred years. However, the cost of digging them up will go higher and higher until it is unsustainable to harvest them in terms of destroying habitats and jacking up the price of the economy the latter of which is obviously most important to the profiteers of these industries. Humans are the worst. Until renewables are cheaper/more profitable than fuels, people will never stop hurting the environment. Its not as much about power demand as much as it is quality of life.

Hey TED-ed, this video is pretty out of date, be great if you can updated it.
1. The price on the earth and human labor of the mining of material for solar panels
2. Asking energy reduction and the question of: what do we really need energy for
3. Real cost of lithium batteries and their lack of decomposing / poisoning the earth.
2. Other energy alternatives ( and their impact on environmental health and public health)
Thanks,

Many thanks, I been tryin to find out about guitar instruction online for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Senarper Salient Secret - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now )? It is a great exclusive product for discovering how to have free power in your home minus the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my brother in law got great success with it.

No one talks about how renewables would completely overhaul contemporary economics though. Like once energy becomes infinitely available its cost becomes zero, and since the value of money is tied to energy production the value of money would similarly decrease to nothing? I'm totally on board with that but it seems like no one is really talking about how much a renewable grid would change the structure of economic thought

Truflame ALL we have to do is make a grid sized bedini motor but instead have a magnetic switch we use a pulse-width modulator and two coils as the prime mover and the whole system would run on say 5 solar panels maybe like 10 or 20 batteries during the day time the solar tracker would not only power of the pulse-width MODULATOR but wod charge the 20 batteries in parallel and during the night the batteries would power.

This is glorious, I been tryin to find out about what alternative energy source is most efficient? for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Senarper Salient Secret - (should be on google have a look )? It is a smashing exclusive guide for discovering how to have free power in your home without the hard work. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my mate got excellent success with it.

I hav has thes idea for a while and it might be a bit weird but.
Electric cars with blades and solar panels that harvest wind and solar energy so they charge while driving and will charge without having to drive if it is windy or sunny but if it is cloudy the wind will charge it but this would need a small wind turbine and solar panel with a very high efficiency: /

Kawi. How adout hiting crystals with the hammer just er one megawatt wind mill to make michien to make the hamer hit but I have tons of ideas just wait for more later I know a lot of the makeing power probably to much energy for the world but we can travel energy you dont even know how good it is
