The tricky thing about the whole correlation/causation thing is that correlation DOES imply causation in the colloquial sense of the word imply, but DOES NOT imply causation in the logical sense of the word. In this video, Meigs is wrong because he's looking at a correlation and going that must be causal; in other words, he's going if a, then b, or textbook logical implication (and also he doesn't really have a good theory of what causes the inflammation, so he's really just moving the question around in any case. Holmes, on the other hand, is looking at a correlation and going there's a good chance this is causal, or in other words, he's inferring that a relationship might exist in the same way you might infer meaning from a sentence.
I bring this up because I've seen a whole lot of people disregard good evidence on the basis that correlation doesn't imply causation, when all that really means is that the causal relationship isn't 100% certain from the correlation alone. Correlation should absolutely get you THINKING about causation, and especially about what possible causal relationships might exist.

This specific kind of fallacy is called post hoc ergo propter hoc (after this, therefore because of this) because a crucial part of the fallacy was that the inflammation was observed prior to the fever. It is just one of a broader family of false cause fallacies.

3: 32 alright, I understand that even tho fever spread after autopsies we shouldn't jump to conclusions.
4: 36 Wa wa wa wa wait. He reduced spread by asking doctors to sanitize AFTER autopsies! Doesn't it mean autopsy was also one of the reasons?

But correlation does imply causation, it just doesn't equal it. If you get sick whenever you don't drink water then it implies that not drinking water makes you sick. It doesn't equal it, but it certainly implies it.

2: 26 I get the main point, that correlation doesn't imply causation, but just for the record in this case, we can't claim that the fever causes the inflammation, because the inflammation occurs before the fever.

Technically icecream melting would cool down the room contributing to the fries being cold. However the temperature of the room has many factors, also the meltedness of the icecream implies the passage of time.

Paused at 0: 39 first guess: infection caused by doctors
LMFAO Okay that was easy but having prior knowledge of what causes fever made it easy. Love this video please make this a reoccurring series! I

I hope the Underworld Management realizes how bad this being is at leading humanity down the wrong path. He should transfer upstairs and become the Angel of Reason.

. To disinfect their hands between autopsies, and patient examinations.
Absolutely buckwild to consider that they weren't ALREADY DOING THAT

All logic are reason come from God, who created all things. I love these logic and reason videos but I hate this representation with the demon.
