Discover the phenomenon known as asymmetrical sleep, where parts of an animal's brain are asleep while other areas remain active. Many animals need sleep. But all of the threats and demands animals face don t just go away when it s time to doze. That s why a range of birds, mammals, and even humans experience some degree of asymmetrical sleep, where parts of the brain are asleep and other areas are more active. So, how does it work? Masako Tamaki explores how animals' brains remain vigilant even at their most vulnerable

Right now I haven't started this video but I see the title and want to share my experience
One day i tried to do this sleep and awake at the same time i didn't close my eyes and just floating in my thoughts and then a moment came where i felt like i am losing my consciousness but my eyes are still open i felt like dizziness my head was spinning very fast and suddenly everything went dark.
I fell asleep
I came to know it when i woke up the next morning
this is neither a dream nor a fake story

As a person raised in an Asian household, I can say with surety that this asymmetrical sleep works benefits for me. As it's so academics oriented in our culture, I've mastered the art of asymmetrical sleep, I can still sleep and experience dreams being half awake and ready to respond yes I'm studying when asked for it. It's funny but it works wonders!

I remember once when I was young I was asleep in the car with my parents sibling and grandma and having a nightmares of where my grandma was complaining about me being too quit around people and socially awkward but I thought it was a bluff until my mum told me when we got home that my grandma said that I should talk more to people.

I once practiced astral projection a decade ago, and now everytime I sleep without the effects of alcohol,
I always woke up just about I was getting into full sleep.
What does it mean?
Its hard to sleep when I don't drink now waking up every few mins: (

Interesting topic as always, I've had instances where I fall asleep while walking home or to work yet what fascinates me is that my brain keeps me alert to my surroundings. It's very scary and yes I've almost had a few accidents but I'm glad that this has stopped.

I very often feel myself sleeping, it feels very weird by really relaxing at the same time. I don't know how to explain it but basically I can recognize that I'm asleep and that my body is asleep, and I can switch dreaming on and off.

Well, when u fall unconscious due to a stroke or blood pressure issues, thats what happens. It's like I kinda know what's happening, but my brain doesn't respond.
I know this cuz I fainted only 3 days ago. And I am only 13

The simple answer to this question is yes. As proof, I present the guy who sat in the oval office from 2016-2020. He was awake the majority of the day while he was brain was surely asleep.
