LOL. My Dad was a Desert Rat, and who became the Royal Ordanance Survey, after WW2.
One of my fondest memories of him is being taught to use a staff and chain in 2 foot of snow on a very steep slope. I was his child labour 12yo. About 1972.
After about 4 hours of slogging around in wellies, with 2 pairs of socks and plastic bags filled with hay as insulation. Measure thrice!
I got taken to the local pub and he asked if I could come in!
I got very clucked over by the landlady, The best Devon pastie ever, with gravy and extra buttered mash and apple crumble with homemade Devon cream AND a half pint of mulled cider! and about 2 pints of builders tea FIRST!
Why I smile about this is he was completely bemused! She is my girl, she never complained. She even wound up the chain right and shook off the snow and put it in the grease bag.

You can tell he really isn't comfortable with heights. I give him credit. I've done high fall stunts and stadium rigging and stage steal. As someone who is comfortable with heights (more so when younger) I give him a lot of credit. Even when you are, at least for me, you still get that rush like your balls are trying to climb back inside you when you think about it too much or watch someone else do something crazy.

I lived as a Yank in the UK in Hampshire during the 80s and loved every day. The Brits are a tremendous people! They are inventive, funny, warm, and extremely caring people. I hated having to come back to the States. I especially loved the theater in London. It was marvelous! Thank you for this truly educational and inventive series! I love it!

With Tony you get two shows in one, he is still brilliant comedian, the things he says or do during these tv programs, brings tears by laughing. Also I have a lot of admiration for doing all these weird jobs. Wonder if he ever participated to: I'm a celebrity get me out of here.

The cycle he is using is super dull. You can stone sharpen those and cut much much faster. I've used one for cutting really tall grass for years. Once sharp all it takes is a couple strokes of a stone to keep it cutting like butter

Abortion is intentionally killing an unborn baby, the women who worked with white lead were not doing that, they didn't know it was deadly. It's miscarriage NOT abortion never compare the two, it's the intention that counts.

It's somewhat funny when you think about it but I've had no problems jumping from a plane with a chute no matter what height, but seeing Tony climb that steeple had me shaking my head in a big negative.

It's crazy how back in the day the countryside was where the poorest lived whereas now it's the playground of the rich and the poor live in the cities, the poor peasant's thatched house now costs almost millions!

Wonder how that white lead simulation was made. Seems like they took one of the blue lead coils and covered it in a white powder, but I'm wondering what the white powder is. Crushed paint chips maybe?

These images come to you as if naturally, but what do you think of the cameraman? Carrying the camera! As in any neck breaking movie before the use of drones (speaking of worst jobs.

A possible thought. Did they use any comfrey lotion. Some places use it as cattle feed.
Originally the Crusader Herb. Heals anything external up to a sword cut.

These are great but god damn the sound mixing is a mess, the music is too loud, Tony is too quiet and Tony's voice over video dialogue is the same volume.

I like how all these jobs aren't that bad. I wonder if it is just that modern day english are spoiled or what, but i've worked jobs way worse than this.

Please add closed captions. Too much machinery in this episode for auto captions to work well enough (and the background music certainly doesn't help)
