The Tragic Story Of The Greenpeace Ship That Was Blown Up Timeline

Aukland Harbour, New Zealand. July 10th 1985. French navy combat men place two mines against the hull of the Greenpeace flagship Rainbow Warrior. At ten minutes to midnight, the bombs explode, sinking the ship and killing photographer Fernando Pereira. The French government is desperate to hide the truth. The truth about the bombing. The truth about nuclear weapons testing in the Pacific ocean. So desperate it will go to any lengths to silence its opponents. The Boat and The Bomb is a Greenpeace International film about international espionage, government cover-up and the nuclear arms race. It's a story which has disturbing parallels with today's War on Terror. It's a story which won't go away

I remember in the 90's Greenpeace sank a whaling ship on an island next to the one I grew up at in Norway, so they don't get much sympathy from me honestly. I still eat the meat from the mink whales that we hunt here with strict quotas, knowing the ocean need to be harvested with sense and no animals or fish are more worth then another. What really make my blood boil is watching how they make whales and other wild, arctic animals into circus entertainment. I can't think of worse abuse for killer whales, with their fins getting destroyed in captivity, locked inside a prison, when they belong in a wonderful, endless ocean.

Greenpeace: Of course youre getting boarded by the military, youre in french waters and in a military exclusion zone. Your pictures and videos of the boarding + your I am a victim attitude just proves again what you are: a bunch of hooligans with no respect for any law, be it international or national. Your message would be heard and appreciated more if you did things according to law.
Had you try to disrupt the US tests you probably wouldnt be alive or be jailed for a very long time.

Those were crazy times, I was a child then, but I remember how Greenpeace would climb factories, block castor transports, risk their lives by steering their zodiacs between whales and harpoons and trying to prevent tests of atomic bombs by sneaking into the territorial waters of the islands on which the tests were planned. They were our heroes, and we were heartbroken when we heard the news about the Rainbow Warrior and that a photographer had been killed.

These idiots were not even capable to have no killed people. And since than it got worse. The secret service's of every country are ruling the world, run by insane people. In my opinion it's not normal to. love 2 or. 3. lives. yoj can never be yourself, always have to be on alert, that you don't say or do anything that blows up your cover. These people. Are schizophrenic and have no morals. Of. Course it was a murder.

Just a girl back then I couldn't recall a time I was so proud to be Kiwi, even more so when France sent its killers to bomb a protest boat catapulting a small but vocal country at the bottom of the world onto the world stage. NZ, to this day proudly and fiercely remains a nuclear free zone.

These events are blatant displays that our governments are capable of committing atrocities yet when you try to educate someone on an event like this, theyll call you a conspiracy theorist when its a straight up fact. In denial that the world is ugly.

I'm curious if France ever apologized for the bombing, for illegally boarding the Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior twice? So, I emailed the French embassy and asked them. We'll see what they say, if anything at all. I predict, no reply at all. Lockjaw.

Nowadays there are individuals as well as organizations that put millions a year into fixing the damage done by other humans. dont need to do these kinda missions anymore with the tech u can buy to monitor big brother from a distance.
reply

Some humans on this planet care deeply about it. some humans on this planet just want to make more money for themselves with no care or concern for the consequences of their actions. I'm hoping there are more who care than don't.

My heart goes out to the family of the murdered crew member and the people of New Zealand who were threatened by France.
I doubt if those involved with the bombing even give it a second thought. Cruel. Senseless and heartless.

Never forget!
Its not greed that motivates conspiracies!
Or even the super rich.
It is sadistic violence as an end in itself.
The powerful love to be vicious.
It's their only respite from banality of evil.

Why don't they have weapons in International waters, those French would have been picked off one by one before it got near my ship, I know everyone will say they are Green Peace, but still allowed to defend your self.

I remember the incidents in the 80s. They shaped my view that it's not enough to sit passively by, whilst politicians, corporations, and the ultra wealthy use our planet only to enrich their own selfish lives.
reply

Not even shocked that the French would do something like that. They invited the Nazis in, opposed a self-governing Vietnam and gunned down Jaques Mesrines without warning causing horrific collateral damage.
reply

Did France ever issue an official apology after the second illegal boarding? Does Greenpeace still protest nuclear test by all countries? Great video. I've heard small bits before, but never the full story.
reply

Probably should've included some kinda trigger warning before showing the clip of the seal getting its brains bashed in. I didn't think a video about a ship being blown up would be child friendly but jheeze

Back in the old days, Left Liberals were doing something meaningful.
Fast forward couple of decades, today 100% of Left Liberals are against common sense. They are divisive, mean and full of hate.

Citroens were vandalized in the streets, Le tan and Le Specs advertisements were removed from the telly and the French embassy was paint and baguette bombed. . oh those were the days. ..

Knowledge is power; Exposure is absolut; Veritas can never be changed. Godspeed, to the rights of Earths habitants, and the end of profits, from a war machine, with an endless appetite.

Re the last comment on this video: 50 years ago a Breton friend told me that the French have no scruples about doing something wrong and are only sorry when they are caught.
